Pr: common audio effects

The adjustment of audio effects usually requires the use of headphones or high-quality monitoring equipment to hear the difference.

There are more than 40 kinds of sound effects stored in the "Audio Effects" folder of the effects panel, some of which are commonly used are as follows.

  • Amplitude and Loudness Classes

Adjust the volume level according to the audio content and meet loudness standards.

increase

Amplify

The audio signal can be boosted or attenuated.

dynamic

Dynamics

Contains four parts: Autogate, Compressor, Expander and Limiter. Each section can be controlled individually.

See:

" Pr Audio Effects Reference: Amplitude and Compression "

loudness meter

Loudness Meter

Can be used to view precise measurements of loudness.

See:

" Pr Audio Effects Explained: Loudness Meter "

  • Noise reduction

Used to remove noise from audio.

Note: Noise reduction reduces the overall level of the audio.

noise reduction

Denoise

commonly used.

Examples include studio floor sounds, microphone background noise, and clicks.

remove hum

DeHummer

This noise can be caused, for example, by electrical interference from cables placed too close to audio cables.

See:

Pr Audio Effects Reference: Noise Reduction/ Restoration

FFT filter

FFT Filter

Used to reduce rumble, such as that produced by reel motors or action cameras.

notch filter

Notch Filter

Target a frequency range and delete sounds in that frequency range.

Great for removing hum or other electronic distractions.

See:

" Pr Audio Effects Reference: Filters and EQ "

  • Balance class

It is used to beautify the sound and highlight the sound characteristics.

graphic equalizer

Graphic Equalizer

Frequency equalization, by increasing or reducing the level of specific frequencies, thereby accentuating the sound characteristics or weakening certain defects.

parametric equalizer

Parametric Equalizer

Fine and precise adjustments can be made to the audio levels of different frequencies.

See:

" Pr Audio Effects Reference: Filters and EQ "

  • Vocal

vocal enhancement

Vocal Enhancer

Such sounds are processed and enhanced at the appropriate frequency.

See:

Pr Audio Effects Reference: Special Effects

Eliminate sibilance

DeEsser

For example, the "s" sound produced by breath or air movement between the microphone and the mouth creates a sibilant sound in vocal recordings.

See:

Pr Audio Effects Reference: Noise Reduction/ Restoration

bass

Bass

For adjusting the low frequency, it is very suitable for processing male voice narration.

treble

Treble

Used to adjust high frequencies.

See:

" Pr Audio Effects Reference: Filters and EQ "

dynamic processing

Dynamics Processing

Dynamic processing refers to changing the dynamic range of audio through compression, expansion, and limiting to make the sound sound more consistent and pleasant.

See:

" Pr Audio Effects Reference: Amplitude and Compression "

  • Environment

You can use reverberation, or add reverberation and change the volume of the channel to match the picture environment.

Reverb controls are used to simulate reverberation effects in different environments, such as hall reverberation, etc., with a sense of presence in the room.

Note: When reducing reverb, the overall level will necessarily be lowered.

room reverberation

Studio Reverb

Simulate various environmental reverberation effects.

See:

Pr Audio Effects Reference: Reverb

reduce reverberation

DeReverb

Reduce or remove reverberation from audio recordings.

See:

Pr Audio Effects Reference: Noise Reduction/ Restoration

Delays and echoes are a great way to add presence to a track when reverb or chorus can muddy the mix.

Delay

Delay

to add an echo to the audio track.

multi-function delay

Multitap Delay

Up to four echoes can be added to the original audio.

analog delay

Analog Delay

To emulate the sonic warmth and naturalness of vintage hardware compressors.

See:

Pr Audio Effects Reference: Delay and Echo

stereo expander

Stereo Expander

Often used to increase the difference between the left and right channels, giving the audio a wider or narrower feel, good for ambient or field sounds

See:

" Pr Audio Effects Reference: Stereo Panning, Timing, and Pitch Shift "

  • third-party plug-ins

Third-party plug-ins such as AU or VST can be added. The AU plugin is only available for Apple systems.

Open the Pr menu: Edit/Preferences/Audio, click "Audio Plug-in Manager".
