Introduction of New Functions of StudioOne6 Ultimate DAW2023 Cross-Version Upgrade

PreSonus2023 released a cross-version upgrade of Studio One 6 flagship DAW. This latest version of their award-winning DAW software introduces a host of new features and enhancements, including customization options for the user interface, which PreSonus say makes version 6 their most personalized upgrade to date. PreSonus has released a cross-version upgrade of its flagship DAW, Studio One 6. New features include smart templates, score support for lyrics, global video tracks, and a new vocoder plug-in.

Global Video Track

Now that Studio One 6 finally has video support, it is easy to make video soundtracks. Video can be used as a separate track, just like instrument and audio tracks. You can drag the video back and forth on the time bar like an audio material to align the audio and video synchronously.

If the video also includes audio, you can also export the audio as a subtrack. The video audio track and sub-audio track also have their own independent mixing channels for various processing, such as loading plug-ins, setting routing, and so on. The exported format supports Quicktime, MPEG-4, M4V.

Custom UI and Smart Templates

The addition of a custom editor provides a convenient way to show or hide nearly every tool and feature in Studio One, enabling users to configure the appearance of the software specifically for the task at hand. Changes are applied instantly, and customizations can be saved and recalled, enabling the software to be tailored for every part of the production process.

Smart templates provide a quick and easy way to set up sessions for various tasks. The new Smart Templates feature combines preconfigured tracks and channels with new customization options to provide a toolset for a variety of tasks, including recording, mixing, mastering, setup for live performances, and more. Templates also include "drop-down areas" that allow users to easily import any audio, video or MIDI content needed for a project, and some templates also include interactive tutorials that provide instructions and links to related video content.

plug-in

This update introduces some new plug-ins as well as improvements and additions to existing effects and instruments. A new simple and intuitive de-esser has been added, and Studio One Professional users also get a vocoder.

ProEQ has been updated, with each band gaining a solo function and a dynamics operating mode. The Auto Filter now has separate envelope attack and release controls, and there's a new flip option that inverts the modulation polarity in the LFO section. Instruments are no exception, with Mai Tai, Sample One XT and Presence XT now offering polyphonic touchscreen and MPE (polyphonic MIDI Expression) support.

Studio One 6 Professional Edition

While all editions of Studio One get a ton of new features, there are a few additions that are exclusive to the Professional edition. A new global video track is capable of holding an unlimited number of video clips, enabling composers or sound designers to easily work with multiple reels in a single session. The track offers an intuitive workflow, built around Studio One's renowned drag-and-drop functionality, and provides a basic set of editing tools that allow users to trim video clips in their sessions.

The Channel Overview tab shows a consolidated view of all channel parameters. Some advanced mixer features have been introduced, with a new Fader Flip mode allowing FX/Bus Sends, Side Chain and Cue Mix Sends to be set and balanced from the master fader, by right-clicking on the desired send and selecting Flip. In the Channel Editor window, a new Channel Overview tab provides a single consolidated view of all channel parameters. This tab follows the selected channel and can be pinned anywhere on the screen.

The new Global Lyrics track allows users to add lyrics to their scores, songs and compositions, and even transfer them to the performance page for use in rehearsals or live performances. When working with MIDI in Score or Piano view, you can attach lyrics to notes, word by word, or even by syllable. There are a variety of font sizes and text alignments to choose from, and the lyrics view can also be used as a text editor to format words.

Further customization is provided in the form of track presets, which store every parameter of a given track or channel (or group of tracks and channels) for instant recall. As well as being loaded into a session as a new track, their settings can also be applied to any existing track.

other improvements

The start page has also been completely revamped; songs, projects and shows can now be organized into custom folders, allowing all files related to a particular artist or production to be kept in one convenient location. Producers and engineers working with multiple artists are now able to create and manage an artist profile that includes each client's name, genre, website and imagery, which can then be embedded as ID3 tags when exporting mixes. Custom folders can also be created in the browser to house plug-in and instrument presets, which can now be tagged and automatically added to a new favorite folder at the top of their respective preset lists.

FX channels are now equipped with sends, allowing the output signal of one effect to be sent directly to another, while virtual instruments that require an external source (such as a sampler or vocoder) now benefit from a sidechain audio input that can be input anywhere on the speaker. Additional panning modes have been added to the mixer, stereo channels now have balanced, binaural, or binaural modes, and a new popup editor offers a large panning control and a menu to switch modes.

New user interface customization options allow users to show or hide nearly every tool and function within Studio One.
