Remote Desktop Setup Tutorial

Launch an Amazon Lightsail instance

Find Lightsail under (Compute) in All Services and click to open the Lightsail Control Panel.

Once in the Amazon Lightsail welcome screen, click Create instance to create and configure a Lightsail instance. You can also select Chinese in the language option in the lower right corner for easy setting.

Configure Remote Desktop

In the pop-up setting interface, from top to bottom, you can choose:

  • The IP location of the intended desktop;
  • Operating system platform (here, it is recommended for beginners to choose Windows, which is convenient for management, and the latest version of Windows can be selected if the virtual desktop system version has no special requirements);
  • Configuration and paid plans (currently free trial configurations can be experienced for 3 months);

After selecting, click Create Instance.

An instance status of "pending" means that a Lightsail instance is being created for you.

Start Remote Desktop

After a while, the instance displays "running" to indicate that the configuration is complete. And there will be a display icon in the upper right corner.

After clicking the monitor icon, the virtual desktop window will pop up.

Use Remote Desktop

Virtual keyboard input can be invoked.

Characters can also be entered using the remote clipboard function in the lower right corner, then copied and pasted into the remote desktop.
