Skip entering the key during windows installation, choose the version independently Let’s
talk about

ei.cfg :

   skip entering the key during installation, choose the version independently Many friends have installed 8, or are intending to install it. I think, with Doudou's tutorial post "Windows 8 Microsoft Official Version Download and Installation Instructions", the installation will be an easy process. The mirror version recommended in the post is the first one, and I also think this version is more suitable for the public: you can use the retail version key or the MAK key, and only the Pro in this version can upgrade WMC. Although the Enterprise Edition is the most feature-rich, most people don't actually need the extra features.

    Although the recommended version is good, there is also a little inconvenience. During the installation process, you will be asked to enter the serial number, and then install the corresponding version according to the serial number. Not to mention that it is very troublesome to enter the serial number. version does not match (although this is rarely the case), which would be a tragic thing.

   Having said so much, let's get to the point. Everyone knows that Win7 Ultimate includes multiple versions. You can delete or modify the ei.cfg file in the sources folder of the installation image to achieve a multi-version selection interface during installation. But there is no such file in the Windows 8 image, it does not matter, we manually create one, the content format is as follows:

01.[EditionID]

02.{Edition ID}

03.[Channel]

04.{Channel Type}

05.[VL]

06.{ Volume License}
Copy Code
    Among them, {Edition ID} must be a valid Windows version ID; {Channel Type} must be "OEM" or "Retail", (2012/11/6 by raymai97 pointed out the error and corrected: {Channel Type} also has an option" Volume"); and {Volume License} must be 1 (if volume license) or 0 (if not volume license). For example:

[EditionID]
[Channel]
Retail
[VL]
0Copy

code
    Here, I did not fill in {Edition ID}, leave it blank to display the version list, of course, you can also fill in, the valid ID is: Core, Professional. If only one is filled in, the corresponding version will be installed during installation; if both are filled in, the first version will be installed by default, that is, the version corresponding to the ID written in the front; otherwise, the version selection interface will appear. In either case, the screen for entering the key will not appear and the installation will be suspended. (This does not mean that activation is not required, please activate it by yourself after the installation is complete^_^)

    After creating the ei.cfg file, you can edit the Win8 image through UltraISO, add the ei.cfg file to the sources folder, and then save or Just save the image.

    Note: Although the enterprise version is the most comprehensive version, the installation image does not contain multiple versions like the flagship version of Win7. It can be seen from their file sizes that Win8 > Win8 Enterprise > Win8 Professional (vl) , so the enterprise version cannot achieve multi-version selection installation through this method.
