Tenpay security doubts: funds are frequently stolen and brushed

Third-party payment has become the hardest hit area for fraud cases. On an online complaint interactive service platform, Tenpay is at the top of the "list" of complaints. Tenpay’s complaints are mainly divided into two categories: one is that the unfreezing problem cannot be solved; the other is that there are many cases of fraud. Statistics on the above-mentioned complaint platform found that only 3 of the 25 complaints about Tenpay were resolved.

After trudging through the road to thaw and the problem was finally resolved, the funds were stolen. Investor Mr. Jiang's series of encounters with Tenpay has never been resolved, and he "can only suffer from boredom." The full payment promise made publicly by Tenpay's official website has obviously failed. Whether the platform's security measures are in place has also raised questions from users.

No solution to freezing and stealing

Mr. Jiang from Langfang City, Hebei Province, loves playing Tencent games and has always supported Tencent's software. But recently, Tencent's Tenpay has made him "very hurt".

On August 10, Mr. Jiang logged into his Tenpay account and showed that he was frozen, without any signs or notice. He hurriedly called Tenpay customer service to ask the reason, and the customer service explained that the account was abnormal. But why the exception is not given a specific explanation. From the 11th, Mr. Jiang submitted the electronic version of his ID card and bank card, but he waited until the 19th and was told that additional materials were needed. After replenishing the materials, Mr. Jiang called customer service for several days and was always told that the thawing failed. The web page showed that it was resolved on the 23rd, but the problem was still not resolved by the 25th.

On the 26th, the account was finally unfrozen, but more troublesome things appeared. Mr. Jiang said that the remaining balance of the account is more than 2,000 yuan. "On the morning of August 27, a stranger added me as a friend and asked me why I made a mistake in transferring money to him. After I added a friend, he sent me a screenshot saying that the money was automatically spent after I transferred it to him." The Tenpay records show that there were multiple transfers on Mr. Jiang's account, each 50 yuan. The customer service responded that the system handled the problem, and informed Mr. Jiang that he still had 500 yuan. However, the balance of Mr. Jiang's inquiry account was zero.

Subsequently, Mr. Jiang applied to freeze the account, and the account was frozen on the afternoon of the 27th and automatically unfrozen on the 28th. The customer service explained that Mr. Jiang had applied to freeze the account before. "It means I lost 2,000 yuan, and they don't even know."

Mr. Jiang was not the only one who suffered the account freeze. A whistleblower was frozen when he had more than 10,000 yuan in his account. After repeatedly submitting materials and requesting the customer service to thaw the freeze, he wrote an indictment document. After the author emailed the public relations department of Tenpay, the matter that had not been resolved for more than two months was resolved "by coincidence". But other questions raised by the author have never been answered.

According to statistics on the above-mentioned complaint platform, the author found that only 3 of the 25 complaints about Tenpay were resolved. The relevant person in charge of the public relations department of Tenpay said that customers contact customer service according to the normal process, and the problem can be solved. "The authenticity of user complaints needs to be verified, and we can't just listen to the one side of the complainant." At the same time, he asked for the user complaint cases in the hands of the reporter, and said that he would solve each user's problem in place. According to recent news released by Tenpay, its risk control team intercepted 30,000 defrauded funds in 30 minutes on August 25, and the payment risk control plan effectively guaranteed the safety of users’ funds.

On the issue of account security, Tenpay publicly made a commitment on its official website that "for account losses, Tenpay will fully compensate for the loss". This commitment is consistent with the clause in the "Administrative Measures for Online Payment Business of Non-bank Payment Institutions" (Draft for Comment) issued by the People's Bank of China recently that "for the loss of funds caused by customer reasons that cannot be effectively proven, use the risk reserve to make full compensation in advance". But the actual implementation situation is not optimistic.

Among the above-mentioned fraud complaints, as of August 31, Tenpay reported that there were zero cases of successful compensation, but after the communication between the author and Tenpay was invalid, there was an accidental payment before publication. The author joined the Tenpay rights protection QQ group and did not see any compensation. Mr. Xiang from Chengdu, Sichuan reported that Tenpay refused to pay on the grounds that "the payment has been completed and the interception has not been successful", but only provided him with the contact information of the merchant and asked him to contact and call the police.
