Blockchain - immutable, encrypted, decentralized - distributed ledger that enables every centralized process, activity and organization to be fully autonomous. This means we can streamline every business, government and nonprofit activity by eliminating intermediaries and authorities. While all this is still a distant dream, many are already working on it.

Amid all the development around blockchain, there is a lot of debate about the future of the technology. To give you some clarity, NewGenApp, a cloud solutions and mobile app developer, interviewed 8 industry experts about possible future applications of blockchain technology.

Their views focus on these directions: eliminating trusted third parties, securing driverless cars, ensuring data integrity, securing the future of the internet, blockchain for digital advertising, future changes in commerce, enterprise applications, etc. For specific views, see the article. New York cybersecurity attorney Benjamin Dynkin:

Eliminate trusted third parties

Blockchain has the potential to fundamentally impact various processes and technologies. At its core is a system that removes the need for trust in transactions. While this may sound like an easy proposition, many of the world's largest institutions exist as trusted third parties, such as SWIFT and the Depository Trust Clearing Company. In this regard, opportunities abound for businesses to create transaction-specific applications of blockchain technology, such as the mortgage industry.

Current home mortgages require a complex web of title searches, title insurance, and countless small transaction fees necessary to keep the system running. These systems exist because, historically, land transfers have been a matter of great trust in the records. However, blockchain will solve all of these problems and a distributed ledger of a specific property can contain a verifiable and valid transaction history, minimizing the need for institutions to provide risk reduction and trust services. The result is a faster mortgage at a fraction of the cost and a high level of trust.

Blockchain will secure driverless cars

Many people think of blockchain as nothing more than a digital distributed ledger system, and some even consider it synonymous with Bitcoin. But the true potential of blockchain as an encrypted database structure is revolutionary, exciting, and yet to be realized. Cybersecurity, for example, has been a fly in the ointment in the process of broad innovation across many industries, including driverless cars.

Since the early days of the internet, our ability to push the boundaries of innovation has always been much faster than our ability to protect ourselves from spyware, viruses, and hackers, but blockchain may end that. One of the big reasons why the law currently doesn't allow driverless cars on the road is cybersecurity.

These concerns are not unfounded. After all, today even vehicles on the road can be intercepted remotely by hackers. While it's one thing to change your radio station, it's another to drive your car into a ditch. In the past, automakers have never been able to guarantee their self-driving car systems are safe from cyberattacks, but with blockchain it is possible. This distributed storage approach will keep every driverless car system on the road safe from hackers . It's hard to imagine a future of driverless cars not relying on it.

Default Technology to Ensure Data Integrity

The explosive growth of Bitcoin in 2017 has contributed to the reliability and benefits of the underlying technology of the cryptocurrency blockchain. In 2017, blockchain was the second most popular search term on the Gartner website, and distributed ledger technology will continue to play an important role in many industries.

Deloitte predicts that blockchain projects will surpass cloud computing and the Internet of Things in venture capital. Countries with official blockchain strategies, such as Malta, will lead the regional market and the global market in the blockchain space.

Christopher Cane:

Blockchain

Phil Weaver,Learning Success System:

Jeff Stollman:
