The official version of Java 8 has been released, but Eclipse, the most commonly used Java development tool, has not officially released support for Java 8. However, it is currently possible to support Java 8 by updating the JDT. Proceed as follows:
- Menu: Help > Install New Software...
- Enter the following URL address: http://build.eclipse.org/eclipse/builds/4P/siteDir/updates/4.3-P-builds
- press enter
- Select category 'Eclipse Java 8 Support (BETA)'
- For faster installation, please do not select 'Contact all updates sites during install to find required software'
- Click 'Next'
- Click 'Next'
- accept the agreement
- Click 'Finish'
- Restart Eclipse
