In the article " IBM SPSS Modeler 18.0 New Version Strongly Launched " in the first two weeks, it was mentioned that the latest version of IBM data mining platform SPSS Modeler was launched on March 15, 2016, and the oldest version of the SPSS family was also launched on the same day. Product------ IBM SPSS Statistics latest version 24.0, which is the earliest statistical analysis software in the world, developed by Norman H. Nie, C. Hadlai (Tex) Hull and Dale H. Bent, three graduate students of Stanford University in the United States It was successfully researched and developed in 1968, and it has a history of 48 years now. Support multiple programming languages to achieve arbitrary expansion
It is now easier than ever to create and share extensions based on R, Python, Java or SPSS syntax, with custom dialog builders for extensions implemented in the new Extensions menu. As shown below:
A custom dialog builder enables the addition of new controls, new properties for existing controls, new options for the menu location of dialogs, and an updated interface.
- You can specify a new submenu that is created when custom dialogs are installed into the installation dialogs. You can also specify whether to install custom dialogs to all window types (Data Editor, Syntax, and Viewer) or only to specific window types.
- The following controls are now supported: Field Picker, Dataset Picker, Date Control, Safe Text Control, Color Picker, Table Control, and Tab Control.
- Controls can be enabled or disabled based on the state of other controls.
- You can specify the minimum or maximum number of fields for the target list. You can also specify the minimum or maximum number of selected items for a multi-select list box.
- You can specify whether the combo box control is editable. When the control is editable, custom values are entered at runtime.
- Labels can be placed to the left of the following controls: combo boxes, text controls, number controls, and file browsers.
- For controls that generate item lists, you can specify a delimiter between items in the generated grammar. This property applies to target lists, field selectors, table controls, and list box controls.
- You can specify the width of the text area for the following control types: file controls, numeric controls, and safe text controls.
- The number of functional columns on the canvas on which controls can be placed has been increased to four. Previously, only three feature columns were supported.
- You can specify the content of the text control as the dataset name (validated at runtime).
- You can specify how to handle inner quotes in single- or double-quoted values. This property applies to the following control types: text controls, table controls, combo boxes, and list boxes.
Free download of new features through the extension center
In addition to implementing extensions through programming languages, IBM SPSS Statistics provides an Extension Hub that makes it easy to download, update, and remove extensions to try out some of the current new features.
These extensions are components developed through SPSS Statistics syntax, Java, R, Python 2 or Python 3, which can be downloaded and used directly. Currently, there are nearly 100 applications available for download.
Pay attention to appearance
In the IBM SPSS Statistics analysis output report, the format of the statistical table can be adjusted more flexibly and beautifully (as shown in the figure below). After adjustment, it can be directly exported to word, excel, html or pdf, etc.

Importing and exporting data into and out of IBM SPSS Statistics is now easier than ever, importing and exporting common file formats with a single click.
Read and write Excel files
- Determines the data format of a column based on the specified percentage of values with the same format. Previously, if all values in the column did not have the same format, the column was assigned a string format. It is now possible to specify a percentage of the value used to determine the format. The default setting is 95%.
- Ignore hidden rows and columns.
- Remove leading and trailing spaces from string values.
- Specify the sheet name when writing the Excel data file.
- Appends the named worksheet to an existing Excel worksheet.
- Write variable labels instead of variable names to the Excel file.
Read text data files
- Simple and flexible interface for reading CSV data files.
- More flexibility in reading text data files, including automatic detection of data formats and better handling of date and time values.
