How to install PCSX2 emulator

PCSX2 is a free, open source software released under the GNU General Public License, a PlayStation2 emulator software. Because PCSX2 enables PS2 games to run on the PC platform, I believe that many friends who have played PS2 should have come into contact with this emulator, but many people may not know how to install it after downloading, so the following editor will tell you pcsx2 Simulator installation tutorial!

If you use the PCSX2 installation package, the installer will prompt you whether to install the C++ runtime library and DirectX. It is recommended to check these. If you use the green version, you don't have these options, you need to install the C++ runtime library and the latest version of DirectX in advance.

In the plugin selection menu we can select different plugins. "GS" is a video plug-in, "PAD" is a controller plug-in, and "SPU2" is an audio plug-in, all of which are important.

In addition, we can install some plug-ins that PCSX2 itself does not come with. Just put the relevant .dll files into the Plugins folder of the PCSX2 installation directory. This article only takes PCSX2's own plug-in as an example.

  Choose a plugin

It is recommended to select GSdx 4600 (MSVC 15.00, SSE41) 0.1.16[gsdx-sse4-r4600] that supports SSE 4.1 instruction set for video plug-ins, which will improve the performance. Note, AMD users please do not choose SSSE3 and SSE 4.1 video plug-ins. The instruction sets used by AMD's CPUs are SSE3 and SSE4A, which are not supported by the GS video plug-in. AMD users, please select GSdx 4600 (MSVC 15.00, SSE2) 0.1.16[gsdx-sse2-r4600] that supports SSE2 instruction set.

In terms of controller plug-ins, SSSPSX PAD is relatively simple, while LilyPad svn is more powerful, and can support keyboards, mice, various controllers (including XBOX 360 controllers), etc. (The following will take LilyPad svn as an example).

Be sure to use "SPU2-X r4600m 1.4.0" for the audio plug-in. SPU2 is the most powerful audio plug-in, many sound effects can only be supported by SPU2, and many games can only sound normally by using SPU2.

As for other plug-ins, "CDVD" is the plug-in of the optical drive, and the default one can be used in general. Of course, you can also choose other to achieve more functions. cdvdGigaherz 0.8.0 can replace the game disc more easily, and Linuz Iso CDVD 0.9.0 can compress the disc image to save hard disk space, so I won't go into details here.

"USB" is a USB interface plug-in, the default is USBnull, the plug-in will not have any effect (that is to say, if you do not use the USB interface to do anything, it is generally not used.) Of course, we can also achieve more by loading other plug-ins Function. For example, by loading the Nuvee plug-in, you can use peripherals such as USB mice, keyboards, and light guns.

"FW" is the FireWire plugin, the default is FWnull (null value), there is currently no FireWire plugin available.

"DEV9" is a plug-in for hard disk and Ethernet. The default value of the system is DEW9null. Generally, no additional settings are required. Of course, we can download MegaDev9 to simulate the hard drive of PS2, and we won't go into details here.

Press "Next", if the corresponding version of DirectX is not installed, PCSX2 will prompt whether to install it.

If the DX version does not match, it will not work

It is worth noting that PCSX2 needs to load the BIOS of the real PS2 machine to run the game. Due to copyright issues, PCSX2 itself does not come with a BIOS. We can get the BIOS file by copying the BIOS of the PS2 real machine. BIOS files include a .BIN file, a .EROM file, and a .ROM1 and a .ROM2 file. Since I don't have a real machine at hand, I can't provide a tutorial for copying the PS2 BIOS, and I can only use the off-the-shelf BIOS to run PCSX2. Please note that the copyright of the BIOS file belongs to Sony Corporation and is for trial use only. If you love games, please be sure to strongly support genuine games and genuine machines.

After getting the BIOS file, put the BIOS file into the "bios" folder of the PCSX2 installation directory.
