I encountered a very strange problem today. The symptom is: there is a precision.thm file, which has become an unrecognized file type on my computer. I know it should be opened with themebuilder.exe. I also installed this software, and then Just follow the normal method, right-click on the file, select "Open with", there is no themebuilder.exe in the program list, click "Browse" to find the directory where themebuilder.exe is located, select it and open it, strange things appear, in the program list I still don't have this program. I tried it several times, and the result is the same. So Google and experimentation solved it quickly. Record the method:
1. First, check whether the path of the target program contains Chinese characters. If there is any, it is best to reinstall it so that the path does not include Chinese. This is the primary condition;
2. After checking 1, it is the focus of the record. There are two ways to solve the problem. The difference is the first One way is intuitive, and the second way is more essential. The following are described separately. Friends who read this article can choose for themselves:
1. Open "My Computer", enter a folder at will, and then click "Tools" in the menu -> "Folder Options", select the "File Types" tab, first check if there are any file types you want to set in the "Registered File Types" list (in fact, it depends on the extension, and in the above case, it is to see if there are any .thm), if there is any, select it, if not, click the "New" button below the list box, then enter the extension such as ".thm" and then confirm;
then look down, there is a detailed information box, there are two buttons in it, They are "Change" and "Advanced", click the "Advanced" button, a new dialog box will appear, the above is the change icon, you can choose the icon of the target program has been changed, and then the "Operation" dialog box, if the dialog box has Edit the "open" record, enter the correct path for the "application used to perform operations", cancel "use DDE", and the last way is OK, if there is no "open" record, create a new one Operation, "operation" add "open", "application used to perform operation" enter the correct path, and finally OK.
2. The second way is to modify the registry, click "Start" -> "Run", enter "regedit" and confirm to open the registry, there are many programs under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT->Applications, find the target program we are looking for, such as themebuilder .exe, open shell->open->command in turn, you will see a program path, if there is no accident, this path should be wrong, right-click the record, then click Modify, modify the path correctly, and then close the registry;
Then select the target program by the conventional method, there is definitely no problem.
Let me sigh again, the Windwos system is really difficult to use, there are some inexplicable strange problems at every turn, and there is no error message at all, and the huge and obscure registry is a garbage can.
