The latest IDE index of PYPL in May has been released, and the top three IDEs with the most searches are Visual Studio, Eclipse and Android Studio. Among them, the indices of Visual Studio and Eclipse are very close, with a difference of only 1.56%.
The PYPL index is one of the very popular reference indicators, the raw data is based on Google trends. The "Top IDE Index" is generated by PYPL by analyzing the frequency (number of times) of IDE searches on Google. The more an IDE is searched for, the more popular it is considered to be.
Of course, to be clear up front, just because people search for something doesn't necessarily mean they like it. Likewise, the most searched IDE doesn't necessarily mean the most popular.
