LVDS--communication protocol learning

LVDS : Low - Voltage Differential Signaling Low - voltage differential signaling

The core of this technology is to use extremely low voltage swing to transmit data differentially at high speed, which can realize point- to-point or point-to-multipoint connection. It has the characteristics of low power consumption, low bit error rate , low crosstalk and low radiation . The medium can be a copper PCB connection or a balanced cable. LVDS is more and more widely used in systems that require high signal integrity, low jitter and common mode characteristics.

LVDS provides milliwatt-per-gigabit solutions for today's and tomorrow's high-bandwidth data transmission applications

The maximum data transmission rate recommended by the standard is 655Mbps, and theoretically, on a transmission line without loss, the maximum transmission rate of LVDS can reach 1.923Gbps

The LVDS transmission signal is a balanced transmission signal. The TTL transmission signal is an unbalanced transmission signal.

The terminal matching resistance standard is specified as 100Ω. Since the constant current source is 3.5mA, the swing level amplitude is -350mV~350mV. Since the bias voltage is 1.2V, the voltage range of the differential signal is 850mV~1550mV.
