How to use Chinese in Fedora 27 (linux) texlive

There seems to be some problems with the support for Chinese in the texlive that comes with the previous Fedora version. So every time I download the installation file from www.texlive.org to install.

After upgrading to Fedora 27 this time, I wanted to try whether the texlive that comes with the warehouse can better support Chinese, so I tossed it for a while. It took about half an hour to get the Chinese support. There is also a bit of twists and turns in the middle, so I will record it here.

The method of installing texlive is very simple. I installed texlive automatically when I installed texstudio.

After installing texlive in this way, there is no Chinese support. After testing, after installing the following software packages, Chinese can be better supported.

  • texlive-ctex
  • texlive-cjk
  • texlive-cjkpunct
  • texlive-fandol
  • texlive-xecjk

One more thing here, xelatex has better support for Chinese. After installing the above software package, xelatex can be used directly. But there is still a problem with pdflatex. I think it is a problem with the packaging of fedora 27, which does not include those texlive packages that pdflatex needs to process Chinese.
