这种技术给快播带来了用户的同时，也带来了非议，原因是它滋生了盗版和色情视频传播的问题。很多盗版和色情视频网站站长直接把快播拿过来用于分享自己网站上的非法视频，于是很快就招致了国家版权局等监管机构的注意，2013年11月，快播被国家版权局认定具有侵权行为，被处以25万元罚款，并停止侵权行为。
但即使到了法庭上，面对快播涉黄，王欣依然坚持“技术无罪”，并喊出“技术本身并不可耻”，他认为，那些内容是个人站点上原本就有的，他只是把视频放进快播的服务器，让用户省去缓冲和等待的过程，快播并没有从中盈利。这一观点随后引起外界广泛讨论。
撇开涉黄，版权问题是快播绕不过去的坎，但不得不说，王欣对于新技术的理解和超前的战略眼光，是很多企业家所不能比拟的。
P2P技术网络跟区块链有很多相似的特性，如去中心化、节点对等等，P2P网络中，每个节点都能提供资源，包括带宽、存储空间和计算能力，由于都是分布式微型服务器，所以不存在中心索引服务器被攻击而导致全系统故障的问题，这正是区块链的核心特点之一。
但二者依然有一定的差异，比如P2P网络上依然是信息的传输，数据的上传者没有得到相应的奖励，数据的使用者也没有付出相应的成本，数字资产的版权没有得到保护，这跟区块链提倡的“价值传输”理念是相违背的，但未来IPFS协议有可能使这个问题得到优化。
IPFS协议的内核和P2P传播技术类似，就是把一个文件切割成很多的小的分块，分别存储在多个服务器节点上，下载的时候可以从多个服务器同时获取，大大提高下载效率，节省带宽成本。
它的特别之处是，可以使链上变成一个生态，每个节点都可以在上面上传数据，同时获得奖励，也可以下载数据，但要消耗代币，代币可通过增加社区贡献度获得，用户根据数据贡献度取得相应的数据使用权。
区块链+X？
实际上，王欣是最早关注区块链技术的一批人，早在2013 年，快播的流量矿石项目就已在公司立项，这是基于区块链技术的全新应用产品，它汇集闲散宽带和CPU，实现闲置带宽资源、计算资源、存储资源的共享，打造一个去中心化共享CDN网络生态。
