MPO (Multi-fiber Push On) is one of the MT series connectors. The MT series ferrules use the two guide holes of only 0.7mm on the end surface of the ferrule to accurately dock with the guide pins. After processing MPO connectors and fiber optic cables, various forms of MPO jumpers can be produced.

MPO is more common is 12 core, 16 core, 24 core. 
12-core MPO fiber jumper is used in 40G network, and 24-core MPO fiber jumper is used in 100G network. The 16 / 32-core MPO fiber connector is the best solution for 400G network with low latency and ultra-high speed transmission.
What does MPO male and female mean?
MPO fiber optic connectors include optical fibers, jackets, coupling components, metal rings, pins (PIN pins), dust caps, etc.
The male head contains two PIN pins, the female head does not. 
The connection between the MPO connectors is precisely aligned through the PIN pin. When docking, you need to hear a "click" to ensure that it is locked with the adapter.
MPO three line sequences
Type A: The cores at both ends of the jumper are arranged in the same position, that is, 1 at one end corresponds to 1 at the other end, and 12 at one end corresponds to 12 at the other end. The orientation of the key on both ends is opposite, and key up corresponds to key down.
Type B: The arrangement positions of the cores at both ends of the jumper are opposite, that is, 1 at one end corresponds to 12 at the other end, and 12 at one end corresponds to 1 at the other end. The orientation of the key on both ends is the same, that is, key up corresponds to key up, and key down corresponds to key down. 
Type C: C-type MPO jumper is a pair of adjacent core positions crossing, that is, the core 1 at one end corresponds to 2 at the other end, and the core 12 at one end is 11 at the other end. The orientation of the key on both ends is also opposite, key up corresponds to key down.
