Malicious plug-in for Google Chrome that can hijack cryptocurrency transactions

A malicious Google Chrome extension known for its efficiency has been modified for a cryptocurrency exchange, cybersecurity firm Trend Micro reported this week.

  Trend Micro said in a blog post that the functionality of the malicious extension, dubbed FacexWorm, was "complete" to steal user credentials from Google, MyMonero and Coinhive; all in all, it facilitated a scam and consumed computer processing power, Powering the secret mining of cryptocurrencies.

  According to Trend Micro, the extension is also capable of hijacking cryptocurrency transactions on various major exchanges, including Poloniex, HitBTC, Bitfinex, Ethfinex, Binance, and the Blockchain (formerly Blockchain.info) crypto wallet.
