Installation and use of the light field camera lytro

"Take pictures first and then focus" is a major feature of light field cameras that differentiates them from ordinary cameras. It does not need to focus when taking pictures, and realizes focusing after taking pictures. Aperture, depth of field, focal length and other data can be adjusted later after taking pictures.

In 2011, Lytro launched the first generation of products;

  • Model: LYTRO ILLUM
  • Photosensitive element type: CMOS
  • Special Features: Face Priority Macro
  • Pixels: 15 million
  • Optical zoom: 10 times
  • Condition: New
  • Display size: 1.8 inches and below
  • Battery type: Lithium battery

In 2014, the second-generation product Illum with more powerful performance was released

  • Operation mode: automatic and manual error correction
  • Sensor Type: CMOS
  • Sensor size: (1/1.2) inch
  • Effective pixels: 40 million
  • Optical zoom: 8x
  • Image Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 800
  • Maximum resolution: 2450×1634

Principle of light field camera: Record light by adding a microlens array at the focal length of an ordinary camera lens (main lens), and then digitally zoom through a later algorithm (Fourier slice theorem, light field imaging algorithm).

Note: To solve the problem that the connected device cannot read the pictures taken inside the camera after installation, it is recommended to connect the camera to the computer via usb, and install the application after booting.

Application usage:

1. Run lytro desktop

2. Right-click the camera name in the Treelist on the left to import

3. Right-click on "Last Import" in the Treelist on the left, and select "Process Photos" from the pop-up menu

4. Click the "All Photos" node, and double-click any photo in the photo thumbnail on the right

5. In the zoomed-in photo, click on any point near or far, and the photo will focus on that point (blurred) according to the point you clicked, and other places will lose focus (blurred).
