Preparations for TimesTen POC (Proof of Concept)

Environmental preparation

Operating system: Linux 6 or above, which can be Oracle Linux or Redhat Linut, etc.
Memory : It depends on the amount of data
Disk space: If the database size is A, the disk space should be at least 3A
Firewall settings: If TimesTen is installed by default, open TCP 53396 and Port 53397, otherwise the client cannot connect. Password
required : operating system root password, this password is a temporary one-time use, used to create the /etc/TimesTen directory, create users and groups, and create a data directory. If TimesTen is used for Oracle database cache, it is also necessary to provide the sys password for initialization, which is also for one-time use.

media preparation

TimesTen installation media, usually Linux version, can be downloaded from OTN or MOS , the latest version can be downloaded from MOS

SQL Developer is used for TimesTen management and development. It can be downloaded from OTN . It is recommended to download both Linux and Windows versions. The former is installed on the same host as TimesTen, and the latter is installed on the user's laptop.

scene preparation

This is one of the most complex and important aspects of a cache architecture. Need to design, for example, whether data is loaded from Oracle to TimesTen or sinks to Oracle through TimesTen, data volume, update frequency, etc.
Other issues to be aware of include data type support and conversion, and whether it is supported when running SQL statements or procedures in Oracle when migrating to TimesTen. For example guid in Oracle is not supported in TimesTen, need to use sequence instead
