Insights from a 33-year-old programmer

Everyone has this feeling. When I was a child, when I went to school, the teacher would be very irritable if I dragged the class for 1 minute. But if you go out to play, there will be infinite power in playing games, and one game will be a day or a night.
So why does this happen? Many adults will say that if you can spend 1/3 of the energy of playing games on learning, it will make a big difference, but most people can't do it, because at that time we I am still young, I don’t understand this truth, I don’t understand why I should study hard.

I was not good at learning since I was a child, but there is one thing I learned very well, that is, computers.

When I was in the sixth grade of primary school, I installed the operating system by myself (in win95, there was no such thing as ghost), and it was completely self-study. Later, I learned to use various office software in junior high school, because animation can be done in ppt, It made me very interested, even the teacher came to ask me how to do ppt, and I started to formally contact programming (qbasic) in the second day of junior high, and all of this came from my interest. /3 of the efforts are put into study, I may still be able to step into the ranks of the school tyrants.

Then why is it that learning what you are interested in will have infinite power, while learning what you are not interested in will have infinite resistance? There are too many sayings and articles on the Internet, so I will not list the information, I just want to talk about it own opinion.

In my opinion learning is divided into several states

One: forced to learn

Most of this motivation comes from parents. Learning completed under the pressure of parents will have two consequences:
(1) In the process of learning, a sense of achievement is found, and the motivation of high pressure is gradually replaced by the motivation of achievement. Replace, go to normal.
(2) The lack of a sense of achievement in learning does not mean that the person is stupid, but the inner resistance is greater than the external force given by the parents, resulting in a serious rebellious mentality.

This state of learning is common, because we are still young, it will be a great pain and suffering if we cannot get pleasure or appreciation from boring learning, but the Pyramid Principle tells us that enlightened ones are still is a minority.

Two: the environment

The poor family environment forces us to study hard. We have only one goal to study hard, to live a good life, to strengthen our family, and to change our destiny.
This is another kind of motivation. It has nothing to do with the major you are studying. You will work hard in everything you study. In a poor environment, you no longer know what an interest is. You only know what can bring about change. Bring prosperity.
Therefore, the phrase starting from interest does not apply to these groups of people. (Of course, the words can't be said so absolutely, the extremist parties please detour)

Three: I do like this

To be honest, programming is really hard to get people interested in. In my day, people were interested in computers because of computer games. At that time, many books on programming were obscure and difficult to understand, and the things that experts and scholars showed off have not changed a lot. When I first got into programming, I didn't have much interest either.

But I gradually started to like making web pages (html). At that time, there was no need for filing a website, and the IP address was not dynamically allocated, so I made my own computer as a server, and I was my first in high school. A website - the class homepage, which contains student profiles, class profiles, class photos and teacher introductions. It was also from here that I became interested in programming, because I wanted to make a more powerful website.

Here I don't want to continue to talk about the latter things, I just want to say that my programming skills are getting better and better, but my learning is a mess.

From the above three situations, I will make a simple analysis that everyone has their own door. As for whether this door is fully opened, it depends on our experience and consciousness. The process of opening this door is practice.

Many great and famous scholars have a common trait, that is, continuous learning. There are a lot of reports on the Internet, such as the work and rest time of strong men, what to get up at 5 in the morning, go to bed at 12 in the evening, sleep only 3 hours a day, etc. Of course not. Blindly imitating this way of life that may lead to sudden death, we only need to dig out the content, that is, why they can keep learning and why they have a steady stream of energy.

If you keep learning, can you hold so many things in your mind? Can't remember at all?

In fact, non-stop learning does not allow you to completely remember the content inside, but to learn the level of specialization, it just broadens your horizons, just like it is a truth that you must go out and see the world, the more knowledge you have, the more comprehensive , the overall situation and the level of thinking about the problem will be different. As for the difference, read a few more books to experience it yourself.

What are these so called doors?

Before I started working, I thought I was someone who could only write code but didn’t know how to communicate. I was very afraid of those things in the business scene and felt that I could not do well, but I didn’t draw a dead conclusion to myself. I was willing to try Let's see if I really can't do it well. Of course, my first job gave me this opportunity. Whether it is difficult customers or complicated internal company struggles, I have dealt with them. This is the first time I have opened. A door, the first thing I felt I couldn't do.

Next is work. Everyone knows that software development is a process of constantly solving problems, and self-study is exactly my strength. Whether it is new technology research or problem solving, I can handle it, but for some people who are not confident enough , they feel in their hearts that they can't do it, so they really can't do it, and this is the door they can't open.

The last is entrepreneurship. I really never thought that I could manage and operate a company, but my heart did not completely deny myself. I am willing to try and have confidence that I can do it. This is another door opened for myself. Two years of company operation shows that I can indeed do it. Although it ended in failure, I did not return to the starting point.

To sum up, what you can do and what you can't do depends on whether you open the door to yourself and whether you believe you can do something. The ten thousand hours rule tells us that there is nothing you can't learn. It may not be the best, but I also believe that you are not the worst either. Why do you always say that mentality determines everything? This is my personal perception. If you can open your door like many strong men and let knowledge continue to flow in, then you are not far from strong men.

The so-called door is the barrier between the heart and the outside world, because it doesn't know what it is about to face, so in most cases it chooses to close the door to protect itself, but if it feels the sunlight and fresh air from the outside world, it will It will bloom beautifully like a flower.

I am already an old programmer in the 30th army this year. Many people at this age will worry about their future, worry that they will fall behind and be caught up by young people, and worry that their energy and physical strength will be eliminated by the industry. Fascinated by big data and artificial intelligence, I feel that I am still developing with the old version of the ssh framework and are not keeping pace with the times. I feel like I am a melon farmer from the countryside when I look at Alibaba Cloud's garish services.

I just want to say that my level has always been average and not high, no particular technical depth, no experience with large e-commerce sites, but I am not worried about being caught up by young people, because I have never wasted time.

Now that you have entered the pit, you must be mentally prepared for continuous learning, not only in the IT industry, but also in any industry in the future.

Survival of the fittest, survival of the fittest.

Personal perception, welcome to play a critical spirit
