Appscan uses third-party browsers

Scenario 1: AppScan Standard Version 8.0.0.3 or later setup

Step 1: Configure to use the browser
a.[Tools]>[Options]>[Advanced]> OpenExternalBrowser
b.OpenExternalBrowser value: 0=AppScan browser (default value), 1=IE browser (Internet Explore), 2=Firefox, 3=Chrome browser
 
Step 2: Scan Wizard, create a new [General Scan]
a. New Scan [File] > [New] > [General Scan]
b. Follow the wizard prompts to operate step by step, after the configuration is complete
c. If you select "Manual Exploration Start", the browser configured in the first step will pop up
 
 

Scenario 2: AppScan Standard version 8.0.0.2 or earlier ( for Rational AppScan Standard v7.7 and later, and versions prior to v7.8, you need to follow the steps below to configure the use of an external browser )

Step 1: Confirm the proxy port of Rational AppScan Standard
a. AppScan uses this port number to monitor the information flowing to the web server
b. This port number is automatically assigned by AppScan every time it is started, or a free port number can be specified manually.
 
Step 2: appscan[scan configuration]-->[communication and proxy] set "do not use proxy": 
a. Create a new [General Scan], when configuring the URL and server, check "I need to configure other connection settings (proxy, HTTP, authentication)
b. Set "Do not use proxy", the next step, the next step will pop up the built-in browser after configuration
 
 
Step 3: Set Rational AppScan Standard as a proxy server for external browsers :
a. Open the corresponding screen of the Chrome browser to set the proxy server.
b. Set the address to the local address (AppScan runs on this computer), and set the port number to the AppScan proxy port number confirmed in the second step.
c. After completion, you can enter the URL in Chrome for manual exploration
d. After exploring, close Chrome, close the built-in browser, add the URL in the pop-up window, and click OK.
 
 
Others: In the second step, if you need to remember the password, do not use the scan wizard, and operate as follows
a. Confirm the proxy port of Rational AppScan Standard
b. [Scan Configuration] > [Communication and Proxy] set "Do not use proxy", open the browser to configure the proxy and save the port number
c. [Scan Configuration]>[Login Management]>Record, the built-in browser will pop up, open the Chrome browser to operate and log in, then close the built-in and chrome browsers.
d. [Scan] > [Manual Discovery] (or the [Record Start] button in the menu [Scan] > [Scan Configuration] > [Multi-step Operation]) to launch the AppScan built-in browser.
e. Leave the AppScan built-in browser open and launch the Chrome browser.
f. Operate the site (HTML5) page on the Chrome browser.
g. Close the Chrome browser after manual exploration.
h. Close the AppScan built-in browser.
