SolidWorks basic operation notes

foreword

This blog is a note made by myself when I was learning SolidWorks for fear of forgetting it later. The reference tutorial is the
SOLIDWORKS boutique tutorial

basic skills

Change the geometric relationship in the sketch: ctrl + left click to select the corresponding graphics, and then edit the relationship on the left
Note: If the relationship of several graphics is determined, these graphics may not be able to be edited

Smart callout:

If a graphic is defined, but not marked, it will be displayed in blue, that is, it is not fully defined,
so it is necessary to use marking to determine its length or angle. If there are too many labels, it will display yellow, that is, the state of over-labeling

Clipping: Sketch -> Clip Entities

Powerful cropping, directly press and hold the mouse to cut across the line segment
Extend: hold down shift and drag the mouse to extend the line segment

Extruded Boss/Base: Feature -> Extruded Boss/Base

Select the graphic you want to stretch and stretch it.
Click on the sketch on this boss, and then click on a face, you can sketch on any face

Convert entities:

Select a wireframe in the drawing, click Convert Entities, and then the line can be projected into the sketch you need.
Convert the outline or sketch line to the current sketch and make it a line segment of the current sketch. Then you can perform various operations on this line segment. This can reduce errors in the actual process

Isometric Entities: Sketch -> Isometric Entities

In fact, it is to offset a 2D or 3D graphic

Template: System Options

These are some of our settings in the process of drawing, including font size, etc. These are our habits
. However, if we only modify and save each time, then SW will still use his default template, not the one we modified. Template
The solution is to save a part drawing that we modified the settings once, and then go to System Options -> Default Template -> Parts to realize that the subsequent templates are all the templates we set.

Sketching ideas:

First draw the basic outline of the graphic, and then mark its dimensions. Smart label a certain graphic, others. You can set whether its size is driven or not.
If there is no end point of the sketch that is not connected to the origin, the sketch will appear blue. At this time, drag any end point of the sketch, and the sketch can be dragged at this time. Starting from this, if in the actual process, a graph appears blue, but I don't know which place is not marked , you can drag any endpoint of the blue line to see how it moves, so you can know whether it is where is the callout missing?

Mirror entity:

Select the entity that needs to be mirrored and the mirror axis in the left box, pay attention to the mirror axis to select the axis

Linear/Circular Sketch Patterns:

insert image description hereSketch pattern is to copy your sketches at intervals of a certain length or angle

Extruded Boss/Base:

It is the process of forming a three-dimensional surface by extruding a two-dimensional surface

Rotary Boss/Base:

Rotate a slice along the axis of symmetry to generate a three-dimensional object

Scan: Features -> Scan

An entity swept a sketch outline along another linear sketch. For example: springs, paper clips

Loft Boss/Base:

Connect two different sketches together to form a three-dimensional figure. For example, two objects with different top and bottom surfaces are connected to form a three-dimensional figure. For example: storage box

Extrude Cut:

Contrary to the action of extruding the boss/base, draw a sketch on a certain surface of the existing three-dimensional drawing, and then perform extrude cut
, revolve cut, sweep cut, and loft cut. These three are the opposite of the previous three. operation

Create screw holes: Features->Hole Wizard

Adding various holes on the surface of the solid, including screw clearance holes, pin holes, countersunk holes, etc. to generate screw holes
, is essentially similar to drawing points. You can select different screws in the menu bar on the left, and select Different specifications, generally use GB. Then click on the location to select the location where the threaded hole needs to be placed.

Extruded Boss:

From: Represents where to start extruding, equidistant is starting to extrude from a certain distance from the sketch.

Direction 1 represents where to extrude. The double arrow in front can reverse the direction of extruding
. 2 It means that stretching can be carried out in both directions. The drop-down menu on the right represents where to stretch

Thin Wall Features:

Represents a thin wall that forms a circle outward of the sketch, or you can click the arrow in front to form a thin wall inward.

Reference Geometry: Feature -> Reference Geometry

This operation can generate a datum plane, press the reference geometry, select a datum plane, and then a blue other datum plane will be displayed, and its position can be adjusted
. There are many choices of reference planes, and multiple points can be selected to form a datum plane , can also form a straight line, can also form a surface. And after selecting these, you can also select the surface that is perpendicular, coincident, etc. to this option as the reference surface

Curves: Reference Geometry -> Curves

You can find the helix inside, and then set the number of turns and line spacing

Add thread: Insert -> Annotation -> Cosmetic Thread

Select the starting edge, and then set a different standard

How to draw features on surfaces:

Create a datum surface by yourself, and then perform extrude cutting on the datum surface. Direct sketching is not possible on surfaces

Fillet/Chamfer Feature -> Fillet/Chamfer

Create fillets or chamfers. You can click a line to generate a fillet/chamfer of a line, or click a face to turn the edge of the face into a fillet/chamfer

Insert Components Assembly -> Insert Components

You can put other parts into the current assembly,
you can also open multiple files or in the current assembly, hold down ctrl and drag to the file.

Mate Assemblies -> Mates

Standard: You can select different faces in , for coincidence, parallel or vertical
. After mating, you can use the right button to rotate according to the mating relationship.
Also in this, you can also select a certain distance or opposite, and the sketch in the sketch. Design Similarity
When the mate relationship of a part is fully defined, the part cannot be moved any more
Advanced: Symmetric Mate: Select a plane, and then select two planes that are symmetrical about this plane to complete the
width mate: 2 to 2 Symmetric, i.e. make two faces the same distance from the other two faces
insert image description here

Distance and angle mates allow parts to move within set distances and angles
Mechanical: Cam mates allow a cam to move in conjunction with a part
Slot mates allow a cylinder to move in a slot

Insert new part

You can insert a new part directly under the current assembly. After clicking OK, there will be a green check mark, which means that you want to select a plane as the design plane of the new part.
Note: The parts inside the assembly have The default mate, which is inside. The component can only be moved if the mate is deleted

filter

Right-click the mouse and the third button in the pop-up menu is the filter. If there is a filter, you may not be able to select other features. If you only want to select the edge feature, you can set the filter edge.
