What is a bare metal server?

In fact, this name appears in public cloud services. If a virtual machine is provided in a public cloud, it is generally called a cloud server (or cloud virtual host), and if a physical machine is provided, it is generally called a bare metal server. Bare Metal Server (BMS) is a computing service that combines the flexibility of virtual machines and the performance of physical machines. Product architecture

By combining with other services, bare metal servers can realize functions such as computing, storage, network, and mirroring installation:

  • Bare metal servers are deployed in different availability zones (the zones are connected via an intranet), and the failure of some zones will not affect other zones in the same zone.
  • You can establish a dedicated network environment through the virtual private cloud, set up subnets, security groups, and achieve external network links through the elastic public network IP (bandwidth support is required).
  • Through the mirroring service, you can install mirrors on bare metal servers, or you can create bare metal servers in batches through private mirroring to achieve rapid service deployment.
  • Realize data storage through cloud hard disk service, and realize data backup and recovery through cloud hard disk backup service.
