Huang Zheng, 41, has resigned as chairman of Pinduoduo and will devote himself to scientific research in the future!

In 1998, Huang Zheng was recommended to Zhejiang University from Hangzhou Foreign Language School to major in computer science and began his career as a programmer.
During college, Huang Zheng often shared technical articles on forums, which caught the attention of Netease CEO Ding Lei, and the two became friends.
In 2002, Huang Zheng entered the University of Wisconsin-Madison for a master's degree in computer science. During this period, he met BBK founder Duan Yongping through Ding Lei, and then joined Google on Duan Yongping's suggestion.
In 2006, Duan Yongping spent US$620,000 to bring Huang Zheng and Buffett to lunch. The following year Huang Zheng resigned from Google to start his own business, and in April 2015 founded Pinhaohuo, the predecessor of Pinduoduo.
In July 2018, Pinduoduo, which was established for three years, was listed on the Nasdaq. Huang Zheng holds 46.8% of the shares and entered the top 15 of the "Hurun Report" with a value of RMB 95 billion.
In March 2021, Huang Zheng announced his resignation as the chairman of Pinduoduo, less than 3 years after Pinduoduo went public.
In the shareholder letter, Huang Zheng stated that he would devote himself to research in the fields of food science and life sciences, combining chemistry, computers, and business management, and strive to become an assistant to the great scientists of the future.
Pinduoduo confirmed the news to reporters, and the board of directors has approved Huang Zheng's request to resign as chairman.
