3. Main features
1. Each port of the Ethernet switch is directly connected to the host, and generally works in full duplex mode.

2. The switch can connect to many pairs of ports at the same time, so that each pair of hosts that communicate with each other can transmit data without conflict as if it were an exclusive communication medium.

3. The bandwidth of the shared transmission media. For a common 10 Mb/s shared Ethernet, if there are N users, the average bandwidth occupied by each user is only one Nth of the total bandwidth (10 Mb/s).
