Deepin Scrot (in use)
# 10/28/2020 We tried Deepin screenshot screenshots today. The functions are still great and can basically meet the needs (such as screenshots to the clipboard, annotating pictures, adding text (works normally with Fcitx), etc.). Since it is a screenshot software in the Deepin environment, the software may depend more on it.
Shutter (retired)

# 10/28/2020 It will not be updated very early, and it is not applicable to GTK+3 version. We can only install via Snap (Debian GNU/Linux 10 (buster)), but there are still other problems (icon display, slow response).
Gnome Screenshot (retired)
# 03/15/2015 The earliest screenshot software we used. In GNOME, the built-in screenshot tool supports area selection, window and desktop screenshots.

Disadvantages: After taking a
screenshot, it will either be saved to a file or you will be prompted to choose a save path. It cannot be synchronized to the clipboard for pasting.
ImageMagic
In ImageMagic, the import command also supports screenshots. You can take a regional screenshot improt tmp.png ; you can also take a full-screen screenshot import -window root tmp.png ;
After taking the screenshot, either save it to a file or prompt you to choose a save path, it cannot be synchronized to the clipboard for pasting.
GIMP
GIMP also supports screenshot function, the function is located at: File => Create Screenshot
Screen recording (motion picture/video)
Peek (in use)
The whole is more powerful. You can select the size of the recording area by adjusting the window. The window is transparent. "Record As GIF" starts recording, "Stop" ends recording. The supported output formats are GIF\APNG\WebM \MP4, as shown in the figure:
The Peek package may not be directly provided in the source of the distribution. You need to go to GitHub to download the source code and compile it yourself. The official compilation manual for each distribution is given. I have only compiled Peek under Debian .
Gifine

Byzantium
Terminal-type GIF recording software, no GUI interface. You can download the source code of the project from Gnome's Git repository .
Silentcast

ScreenCast + Convert
Use screen recording software, and then convert it into GIF image by video software (ffmpeg).
