Ubuntu Server does not even have a graphical interface, and some operations are quite troublesome. The following is the process from the terminal console to the graphical interface.

The following test was completed on Ubuntu server 10.10.

1. Connect to the network, you must ensure that the network is smooth, if you use Wireless like me, then find a root network cable to plug in, because the following installations must be downloaded through the network, the virtual machine is NAT! !

2. The command to enter the graphical interface is startX, and there will be a prompt to install xinit after clicking.

sudo apt-get install xinit

After installation, the terminal changes from a black interface to black text on a white background. An X-shaped mouse pointer appears.

3. Install the environment manager

If you like GNOME, use sudo apt-get install gdm

KDE and Xface users changed to KDM and XDM respectively

I installed kde first, and then installed GNOME in the kde terminal. The two can also be well integrated.

4. Install the desktop environment

sudo apt-get install Ubuntu-desktop 或者 kubuntu-desktop  xubuntu-desktop

If you only want to install the core environment of the interface, or if the network speed is relatively comfortable, you can

sudo apt-get install gnome-core or kde-core xface4

5. If you install CORE, then you need to do the following work www.linuxidc.com

1. Install Synaptic Package Manager

sudo apt-get install gsynaptic

2. Install the wireless internet module (if needed)

sudo apt-get install network-manager*

3. Install Chinese support (can display Chinese)

sudo apt-get install language-support-zh

4. Select Chinese input method support and Chinese interface support from Synaptic Package Manager

5. Use Synaptic Package Manager to install other software you want
