Efficiency tools | Some third-party services commonly used by startups-collaboration articles

Readers often ask me about the service of XX or if there are any recommended third-party tools, most of which I have used more or less, in order to facilitate similar problems in the future, so I use this to sort out a third-party service commonly used by startups The series of tools is coming out, I hope to help everyone.

As the first article, today we will mainly talk about collaboration tools.

Code hosting platform

The first is the project hosting platform corresponding to the code management tool. There are Google code, Github, Gitlab, Bitbucket, SourceForge, domestic code cloud, and code market abroad.

  1. Paying to use Github enterprise to conduct daily code reviews on github is very convenient and grounded. It is expensive and suitable for small and medium-sized teams. The company has used it before.

  2. Use Gogs or Gitlab to build your own code management tools. The former is simple and convenient, suitable for small teams, and the latter is complex and powerful, integrating CI/CD and various hooks. For example, I like to link slack or bearychat daily. Small teams of a few people can use Gogs, and larger teams recommend using Gitlab.

  3. Using a third-party hosting tool BitBucket, a free private warehouse, the impression is that five people collaborated in development, as for the other domestic unused, I will not speak.

You can adjust the use according to your own needs. I personally recommend using gitlab to build your own code management platform for companies of a certain size.

Document collaboration tool

After getting the code hosting platform, let’s talk about document storage collaboration tools. Currently Graphite, Google Docs, Dropbox Paper, Tencent Docs, Confluence, etc.

  1. Graphite Document: The current experience of the function is very good, the UI is beautiful, and the mobile phone operation is also convenient. I personally like it.

  2. Google Docs is a veteran document that is limited in use due to domestic reasons. Various powerful tools that have been used before are highly recommended.

  3. The Dropbox Paper interface is very functional, and you can add to the calendar at any time. All kinds of thoughtfulness. It's not a loss to become Paper. It is highly recommended. Several tool functions have some similarities.

  4. Confluence is used by many major manufacturers. I have used it for a few years and I feel that the experience is not very good, and the operation is still not used to it. It works well with JIRA, but the UI is not good-looking, and the appearance is just right. It is not recommended.

To sum up: Because of the domestic environment, if you value convenience and ease of use more, I think you can try Graphite Document.

Design collaboration tools

With the collaboration and sharing of pure documents, we also need a tool that can communicate with the design in our daily work, to facilitate designers and products, and R&D engineers to communicate and synchronize their own design changes, thereby improving communication efficiency.

  1. Domestic version of Blue Lake: seamlessly connect product, design, and research and development processes, and can automatically mark and generate css code, etc.

  2. Foreign Zeplin: Old-brand labeling tools are also bridge tools such as product design and development, which can reduce communication costs, shorten development cycles, and improve work efficiency.

I have used both, but since I am not a professional designer, I can't compare the more subtle differences. I feel that both are enough. Just choose one.

Project management tools

Finally, in addition to the above collaboration tools, we also need a project management tool to facilitate our daily task collaboration arrangements and progress follow-up reminders. There are many tools of this type.

Foreign representatives Basecamp, Trello. Among them, Basecamp is produced by 37signals of DHH Great God, and the author of " rework " and "remote" (I suggest you read these two books). Domestic worktile, Tower, Teambion, Fengche.co and others have not been used before, no evaluation.

After various uses,  Worktile, Teambition, and Tower.im are  more in line with personal habits. Among them, Tower.im is used in depth, and the WeChat combination is very good. The experience is very good, but the UI has not been updated for a long time, and the aesthetic fatigue is above. The face value is justice.

Today we are temporarily sharing here, because of personal experience, there may be other outstanding tools that may be missed, welcome to leave me a message to discuss, and in the next issue we will share the third-party services commonly used by developers.
