Data center development trends and characteristics under the wave of new infrastructure

On March 4, 2020, the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee held a meeting. The meeting pointed out the need to speed up the construction of new infrastructure such as 5G networks and data centers. So what are the new characteristics of data centers under the wave of "new infrastructure"? What about the development trend?

First of all, the advantages of independent third-party data centers are becoming more obvious: Compared with telecom operators, independent third-party data centers are faster in construction, more customizable, and highly valued, and most of them have lower PUE, which are favored by customers. Second, the mobile Internet and big data have been the main reasons for the growth of data centers in the past: in the past five years, the demand side, the number of Internet users and mobile traffic have increased rapidly; on the supply side, big data and artificial intelligence have placed higher demands on storage and computing. The combination of factors has led to the rapid growth of data centers. Third, first-tier cities have scarce resources, and energy conservation has become a rigid indicator: Due to the high energy consumption characteristics of data centers, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen have all put forward stricter restrictions on data center construction (generally PUE<1.4), but these cities demand Prosperous, existing data centers have become scarce resources. Fourth, intelligent operation and maintenance are more used: With the increase in the scale of data centers, the rise of labor costs, and the increasing demand for dynamic increase and decrease of resources by customers, traditional manual operation and maintenance have been difficult to adapt. The overall intelligent operation and maintenance based on sensors, DCIM and automatic inspection robots are gradually being more applied.

With the rapid launch of business systems, coupled with limited IT operation and maintenance costs, the requirements for operation and maintenance are getting higher and higher. With the increasing scale of data centers, it is difficult to meet the operation and maintenance requirements by manual labor alone, and visualization and automated operation and maintenance have become the development direction.

There are many mature management tools on the market for various IT equipment in the data center, such as servers, switches, etc., and many more are mentioned by everyone. These management tools include more organic room dynamics management software, network management system, monitoring software, etc. Basically, it is managed to the equipment level, but the cables, ports, and link resources below the equipment have not been very mature means to manage. The line resources account for a relatively small proportion of the entire data center capital, and the management is more complicated, so they are often People ignore. With the wave of new infrastructure construction, the increase in the number of data centers and the increasingly sophisticated management requirements, cable resources are increasingly being valued by enterprises, and they must also be taken seriously.

Navedi data center line visualization management software is mainly a management platform for the operation and daily use of basic wiring operation and maintenance managers. When a fault occurs, it has a quick search function, instead of the traditional way of viewing drawings through the EXCEL table, it can save time and quickly locate the fault. Secondly, through the platform, you can refine the ports of the equipment and create the connections between the ports, and automatically generate the logistics topology diagram of the line. You can also view the capacity of the computer room, cabinets and equipment ports to provide a reference for the overall planning of resources. It also provides the underlying basic data for robots instead of labor, which is a prerequisite for automated operation and maintenance of computer room wiring.
