Preface
When the editor sent me the printed book a few days ago, I was still very excited. First, because my dream of publishing a book has finally come true, and second, I am happy that my hard work has been rewarded. Looking up at the window at this moment, the sun is so bright, as if it illuminates my whole world.
Why publish a book?
I have had a dream of being a writer since I was a child, but from reading to going to work, I stumbled for decades until now I am on the road of programmers and are gone forever. I know that the dream of a writer is drifting away. So on a dark night, I dug out the soil with my own hands and buried it gently.
One day, one month, one year, an idea came up. In addition to making money and working in life, one should also master a second skill. Maybe you can make some extra money, and more importantly, it can add color to the boring life. For example, if you know an instrument, your life can be filled with symphony notes; if you can dance, you can have different dance styles in your days; if you are good at a certain sport, you will not worry about lack of exercise.
So if I want to break my forehead, I can't think of any second skills I have. The only thing that can be said is the writing that is not on the table. I still remember that I wrote a lot of poems and novels in my youth. . .
After finding the second skill, I plan to "carry forward" it. So in February last year, I registered for the CSDN blog, and started to blog, and at the same time I started to operate the official account (actually, it’s not about operation. I started writing when I was inspired. There is no such thing as advertising/headline party, so there are not many fans, but each article is written with heart, real life perception).
After I started to write a blog, the dream of a writer buried by me slowly awakened and broke through. Combining my work, I decided to write a technical book first. So last year I set a flag-I want to write a book.
About this book
This book teaches developers how to develop a full-stack WEB project. The content of the project is a second-hand trading platform similar to Xianyu. It includes front-end technology (mainly using React framework) and back-end technology (mainly using Spring Boot framework).
This book is more suitable for the following three types of people.
1. Newbies in front-end or back-end development, because they will involve the basic parts of front-end and back-end development;
2. Full-stack engineers who want to fully develop the front-end and back-end;
3. Are ready to find a job, but worry about not having project experience on their resume Entrants.
Before writing a book-how to contact the publisher?
After I started writing, I stationed on different platforms. In addition to the aforementioned CSDN and WeChat public accounts. Also write paid articles on GitChat. It was here that I met editor Zhao Xuan.
The GitChat platform will pull authors who have successfully published articles to a WeChat group. By chance, I saw an article "Teaching You to Write a Book by Hand by Hand" published by editor Zhao Xuan in the group. Reading the name of the article, I knew that it coincided with the flag I set up this year. So I read the article in detail and contacted the editor of Zhao Xuan. I sent him my blog address (see my level), and expressed my willingness to publish books and book ideas.
Encouraged by editor Zhao Xuan, I started to write. Send him the catalog, content outline and sample chapters one by one. Because it has always been online communication, in order to make it easier to communicate with each other, I made a [Book Writing Schedule] and sent it to the editor. Arrange for myself an approximate writing time, which chapters can be completed each week, etc. This allows the editor to know the progress of the writing very clearly.
I see that many other programmers who publish books are editors who actively find them through a large technology platform such as CSDN. My first thought was to wait and see. After all, my blog was just registered last year. But I think you should take the initiative when you see an opportunity. If you have an idea of publishing a book, you can contact me. Writing a book-drafting a schedule for writing a book
This book was written for 3-4 months, and several editions were revised one after another. Basically, I start writing every day after I get home from get off work and have dinner. As mentioned earlier, in the process of writing the book, I set up a book-writing schedule for myself, which is the approximate time period to complete which part of the content, and then it is handed over to the editor for review.
Although overall, due to various reasons, it was not 100% completed in accordance with the planned schedule, it was basically 80%-90% completed. I personally feel that this schedule is really important. First, urge you to complete it on time, and second, you can let the editor know your progress at any time, and in the process, if there are any big problems the editor raises, you can correct it at any time to avoid After a book is written, it may be revised extensively.
You can rest for a while after writing a book and the editor has no major problems after reading it.
After writing the book-the process shifts to the publishing house
For publishers, publishing a book is like doing a project. After the author finishes writing, the project flow is transferred to the editor. In the subsequent process, your book will pass the first, second and third trials step by step. There will also be a step-by-step process review within the publishing house.
It is worth mentioning that the publisher's proofreading is through the paper version. After they have completed a preliminary proofreading, they will send you a hard copy for you to check again. Then send it back.
Next is the cover design. The author needs to provide a brief introduction and can write about the selling points of the cover.
The end of the book should be around November last year, but due to the impact of the epidemic this year, the editor only sent me the printed book in August this year, a few days ago.
