Excerpts from the Open Class:

How to build efficient strategic execution?

At the beginning of the presentation, Zeng Chenghua, an associate professor at the School of Management of Fudan University, firstly brought a wonderful open class with the theme of "How to Build Efficient Strategic Execution", allowing the students to experience an immersive Fudan MBA class.

Professor Zeng pointed out that as a professional manager, you need to find the company’s development goals and the current situation, but there is usually a big gap between the two. The way to eliminate the gap is to formulate a corresponding strategy, and the implementation of the strategy has therefore become an enterprise. The key to development.

Later, Professor Zeng said frankly that low execution power is usually caused by three factors: one is the lack of responsibility of employees, the other is the company's lack of corresponding rewards and punishments and incentive mechanisms, and the third is related to company culture. The company's culture is usually shaped by the company's middle and senior management. If the middle and senior management are generally sloppy, the company will have a culture of poor execution over time.

How to improve the company's strategic execution? Professor Zeng gave three frameworks: The

first framework is the source of power within the company for leaders. Professor Zeng pointed out that middle and senior managers need to increase their influence within the company. The sources include legal power (related to rank), expert power (related to knowledge) and exemplary power (related to character).

"As a manager of an enterprise, you must make employees afraid of you, but also make employees admire you, and make employees like you, so that you can give full play to your influence in the company." Professor Zeng explained.

The second framework is a company-level company’s means to control employees, including bureaucratic system control (ie rules and regulations), market control (ie employee KPI/department KPI), and group control (ie, senior employees correct deviations in their behaviors) ).

The third framework is Maslow’s demand hierarchy theory for employees. Once the lowest or basic needs are met, the needs will automatically rise by one level.

Finally, Professor Zeng concluded that the implementation of strategies must first focus on company finances and customer satisfaction, followed by the company's internal operating procedures, and finally focus on learning and growth. Only when employees continue to learn and grow can companies continue to grow.

  Wonderful scan of the project:

highlight the encirclement and make it more brilliant!

The “key dry goods” part of this presentation is to unlock the Fudan MBA program in all aspects: Mr. Sun Long, the deputy director of the program, gave a detailed introduction to the Fudan MBA program features and advantages, scholarships, etc.

Mr. Sun first mentioned that Fudan MBA pursues diversification of class composition, so students from all industries and functions are welcome to join. This can bring different ideas, perspectives, personal growth and experience to the class.

Afterwards, Mr. Sun introduced the general situation of Fudan MBA program to the students. Established in 1991, Fudan MBA is one of the first 9 universities in the country to grant a master’s degree in business administration. It focuses on the development of students’ all-round leadership and is committed to Cultivate "young elites and future leaders" with a global vision and a deep understanding of China's national conditions.

In order to accomplish this mission, Fudan MBA, on the basis of in-depth research on the new characteristics of economic development and the comprehensive integration of the new concepts of Chinese and Western management education, boldly innovates, continuously improves the education and training system, and creates a leading "one core, five pillars" in the new era and new situation. "All-round learning value system. "One core" is "to take the overall leadership development of students as the core"; "Five Pillars" are Fudan MBA's continuous innovation and resource input in the five aspects of curriculum system, management practice, global platform, leadership enhancement and lifelong development.

Through the original T-shaped curriculum system, the elective courses of six major directions, the unique Fudan characteristic "Humanities Classics" series of courses and innovative cross-industry business consulting and career development courses, Fudan MBA comprehensively builds and perfects students' theoretical knowledge system. A solid cultivation system, integration of cross-border resources, and a broad and in-depth international vision have given Fudan MBA the strength to deal with "uncertainty". In 2020, in the face of the huge challenges brought by the epidemic, Fudan MBA actively responded with all students and embarked on a special "learning" journey. The project relies on the college's platform and resources, combined with its own advantages and innovations, to build online classrooms in the first time, and build an online education system, so that students can "transfer" to online in time to ensure that learning is not "stopped".

From the college to the MBA program, from the campus to the "cloud", a total of 152 online courses have been opened, with a total of more than 1,000 lectures, and more than 200 online forums, lectures and sharing activities, covering more than 10 million people.

In addition to the first-time launch of online boutique courses that gather first-class teachers, in terms of management practice, the Fudan MBA iLab project, which has a history of 15 years, is still coming this year as scheduled. The 21 business consulting projects this year covered multiple fields such as new energy, medicine, and manufacturing, and all completed their final reports in July. Cooperative companies have highly praised the dedication, professional ability, team spirit and project results of each iLab team.

On the global platform outside of the classroom, the project also connects the GNW overseas courses of the world's top universities to open up new horizons and enhance cross-cultural communication skills for students. It is strong with the world's top business schools such as MIT, Yale University and London Business School. Join forces, integrate abundant international resources, and actively carry out various forms of exchanges and cooperation.

This year’s graduation season is experiencing the “post-epidemic period”, but because the Career Development Center of the School of Management has always provided training and guidance in all aspects from career planning to employment skills to MBA students, and maintains a good talent training partnership with companies , So that the students in the Fudan MBA graduating class still maintain a very high employment rate, and have won offers from many large companies. At the same time, the 2020 freshmen Jujin Orientation also officially set off in July. Inspired by the spirit of gathering strength that has been passed down for 20 years, the freshmen will gather together in the "cloud", and get to know each other with outstanding classmates, and together build the MBA study vision for the next two and a half years.

With its mission on its shoulders, Fudan MBA has repeatedly achieved good results. In 2020, Fudan MBA ranks 33rd in the world by the Financial Times FT, 6th in the Asia-Pacific region, and 1st in the business school of mainland China. The ranking results have continued to improve in the past 7 years.
