The author of the book is 8 world memory champions . The content in the book is also dry. It describes the methods of memory and exercise methods. There are theory and practice. If you really follow the author's writing, I will become a memory champion. Okay, but it’s okay to have a significant improvement in memory.

Core point

Knowing that you may not have enough time to read this book, I sorted out some core content, and I exercised according to these content myself. Now memorizing numbers is the same as playing.

Internal strength

The author believes that compared to boring numbers, our brains are easier to remember content with a sense of picture, so there are three main points to exercise the internal power of memory:

  2. Location: The brain can establish a connection between any piece of information and any location

  3. Imagination: Lenovo and location are the engine and map of memory maps respectively, so imagination is the fuel of memory. Imagination not only allows you to construct a picture in your mind, it also means great creativity

Just looking at the content of internal strength, you may not know it well. Just like martial arts, it requires both internal and external training. I will talk about external strength later, and everyone can understand it well.

Number Shape System

Take the mobile phone number as an example. The domestic mobile phone number is 11 digits. Assuming a mobile phone number is 15201138580, we need to use our brains to memorize it. How to quickly and permanently remember it?

You can use a number-shape system. The so-called number-shape system is to map numbers into objects. The examples given in the book are:

So the mobile phone number above can be interpreted as: the steel pipe hooked the snake with a hook on the snake’s head, two candles emitting a faint light, the candle on the right handcuffed with the snowman, and the snowman hooked it with the hook. Another snowman, this snowman holds a ball in his hand.

In this explanation, association and imagination are used. As long as everyone remembers the corresponding shape of the number and has a strong association and imagination , many numbers can be easily remembered. Of course, you may think that using this kind of memory is more cumbersome and no problem. Let's introduce the enhanced version.

Dominica system

The number shape system is still useful for relatively short numbers, but for relatively long numbers, each number needs to correspond to a shape, and the two numbers have to be associated, which makes it very tiring to use. The Dominic system can solve this problem well. The Dominic system is an enhanced version of the attribute system, which processes two numbers at a time, so what we have to do is to figure out each of the 100 numbers from 00 to 99 A corresponding character and its object, you can use the character or its object when you use it

To use the Dominica system, you need to imagine familiar characters and props based on your own experience. You can do everything you want, as long as you can see that the numbers are immediately mapped to the characters or props. It took me a day to come up with 100 characters and the corresponding props, and then it took a few hours to memorize these. Although the preparation was a little troublesome, the effect was much better. Not only did the workload at least reduce when I remembered it. Half, and the content imagined using the Dominic system is more visual.

Path memory method

The above mainly talks about association and imagination, and another method is the path memory method, which uses location.

The so-called path memory method: transform a location into a path composed of many locations (memory piles), and place the information you want to remember in these locations

To give you an example, I prepared a path with 10 memory stakes:

This method needs to prepare a familiar path in advance, and 10 memory stakes for one path are more than enough. Since using this method, my wife has never said anything about going out to buy food.
