realistic operation and maintenance environment. The first consideration for everyone is the system. "Sustainable development" must ensure that the system can operate normally and stably in various environments. At this time, a good backup environment is required. In the case of hosting by a single host, the location of the backup is optional. It does not mean that you can find one at random. If your backup is stored in the same location and the same RAID, then it does not make any sense. For example, your system has only one hard disk, but your data and backups are all stored on this hard disk. If the hard disk is broken at this time, not only the data will not be found, but your backup will also be lost at the same time. The location doesn't make any sense.
Since it can't be placed in the same place, what should be done? Assuming that you only have one host at this time, you only need to back it up for yourself. At this time, it has a limitation. Due to the low bandwidth of the computer room, it cannot be transmitted to other places. In fact, I have said so much to tell you what should you do if you don’t have enough equipment and it’s not worth your “big fight” for it? How can it be done?
I provide two simple methods here. The first method is easier to implement, which is to find a large-capacity mobile hard disk and connect it to the server as a backup location. However, this method also has shortcomings. It does not seem to be a good idea to power the hard disk for a long time and connect it to the server. Another method is the "non-RAID disk method", which is simply to insert a larger capacity hard disk into the free disk slot of the server. This hard disk is neither used for RAID nor added as a VMFS volume through ESXI. Instead, it is allocated to the virtual machine in ESXI for direct use (bare metal mapped disk), and this hard disk will be used as a backup.
**Note:** By default, the virtual machine of the ESXI host cannot directly use the physical host disk. You need to log in to ESXI using ssh and map the host hard disk to use it. The specific method is to log in to ESXI and click " Click "Properties" in "Configuration"-Security Profile", and then start it in "Service Properties"

After the SSH service is turned on, everything is not going to be all right. Go to "Configuration-Storage-Device" to find the disk that has not been used for RAID. Right-click the device and select "Copy Identifier to Clipboard" and

then return. One step, go to "Configuration-Storage-Data Storage", check whether the device that has not been used for RAID has been added as storage in esxi, if not, just mount it to an existing partition.
The next step is the most important step, which is to log in to the esxi host using SSH and execute "ls /vmfs/disks". You can find the identifier you just copied and pasted in the output content. The

the virtual machine disk is created successfully, one more step is to be completed. Add the disk to the virtual machine configuration, choose to use the existing virtual disk, and then select the virtual disk just created. The
next step is Format the newly added hard disk partition in the disk management and set the drive letter D.
The last step is to install Exec 2016 or other backup software in the virtual machine, and then back up the other virtual machines to the D drive.
