Linux NetworkManager and network services

1、NetworkManager

Attributed to the GNOME interface manager management, launched after the rehat6 version. It supports the management of wireless and limited networks in the form of an interface. At the same time, NetworkManager uses a background process as a server, which can be configured through the nmcli client.

In the network card configuration file, if you configure NM_CONTROLLED = yes, the network card configuration takes effect immediately. The reason is that the NetworkManager has been running in the background and re-reading the file causes the configuration to take effect. This configuration item should be noted that if the configuration file is incorrect, it will cause the network card to report an error immediately.

2. The network module

The module service does not continue to run in the background, and only reads in the network card configuration file at startup, and configures the network card according to the network card configuration file.

If you modify the network card configuration file, you need to restart the service to take effect. The service actually reads the network card configuration again and exits normally after completing the network card configuration.
