Singapore will open source applications TraceTogether fight against SARS underlying technology

Singapore's Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan ( Vivian Balakrishnan ) this week announced that the Government was prepared to fight the epidemic of open source applications for mobile  TraceTogether  underlying technology for governments and developers can create applications such epidemic prevention solutions. TraceTogether new crown traceability people diagnosed with pneumonia had close contact with patients to help suppress the spread of the epidemic.

It works TraceTogether is the exchange of signals between the short-range Bluetooth phone (so equipment must be kept always on Bluetooth), close to the detection of other users TraceTogether. These records are in close contact with each user's mobile phone, the encrypted data is not stored and upload over the network. If you are diagnosed with the infection, the government will ask them to provide data in order to track them had had close contact with people. In addition, the Ministry of Health will close as soon as possible contact with people diagnosed patients notified by TraceTogether, so that people monitor their health, to see if there are symptoms of infection appear, in order to receive guidance and care.

For example, if ABC has three stations on the subway very close, if B were confirmed infected with the new crown pneumonia, then via Bluetooth data records A and C will soon be found, and will not allow the virus between strangers widely disseminated.

TraceTogether claimed not to collect or use any type of user location data, do not access the user's contact or address information. It uses Bluetooth data to establish contact, does not store information about the contact locations of the attacks. In addition, when two mobile phones to exchange information with each other, communicate with each other based on a random ID, did not involve any personally identifiable information; pairing information telephone number and the ID were stored on another server, only when necessary It will be read.

The technology behind TraceTogether uses a digital service developed by the Singapore Department of Bluetooth tracking (BlueTrace) protocol, can be advertised to the Bluetooth received signal strength indication (RSSI) to collect and record close between the two devices to protect the privacy of people under the premise contact event with the corresponding time. Relevant data in the phone's storage time is 21 days, the expiration will be automatically deleted.

Singapore said any distributed contact tracking solution needs to be widely adopted in order to play its biggest role. So they are making this agreement with the reference implementation, and it will be ready to open, so that other countries can build a similar epidemic prevention applications.
