Apple iPhone 15/Pro new models released, millimeter wave 5G is still limited to the US version

Apple today released the new iPhone 15 series, with a total of four models, namely iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. These new models are equipped with USB-C interface and smart island, and the Pro version has more features, such as A17 Pro chip, lightweight titanium frame, customizable Action button, and 5x optics of the Pro Max version Zoom, Wi-Fi 6E support, 8GB of RAM, and more.

Apple’s official website shows that only the US version of the iPhone 15 series supports the millimeter wave 5G frequency band. IT House noticed that this has been the case since the release of the iPhone 12 series in 2020.

Millimeter wave is a 5G frequency that can deliver ultra-high speeds over short distances and is suitable for densely populated urban areas. In contrast, sub-6GHz 5G is generally slower than millimeter wave speeds, but the signal travels further and is better suited to suburban and rural areas. Except for the United States, all iPhone 15 series support sub-6GHz 5G. Currently, sub-6GHz networks are still more common than millimeter wave networks in countries that have launched 5G. Australia, China, Japan and Singapore are among the countries that have deployed millimeter wave networks.

The iPhone 15 series will be available for pre-order this Friday and will be officially launched on September 22.
