When my laptop is connected to wifi, no network information is displayed in the wifi list. What is going on? How to solve it?

Answer: There is a problem with the configuration of the wifi function on the laptop. For example, the wifi function is not enabled, airplane mode is turned on, the WLAN AutoConfig service is not started, the wireless network card driver is not installed, etc. Under these circumstances, no wifi network name will be displayed in the laptop wifi list.

1.WiFi function is turned off

Most laptops have a WiFi switch on the keyboard, which can be used to turn on/off the WiFi function of the laptop, as shown in the figure below.

If you accidentally press the WiFi switch button, the WiFi function of the laptop will be turned off, and there will be no WiFi icon. So, find the WiFi switch button on your laptop keyboard and press it to turn on the WiFi function of the laptop.

2. Airplane mode enabled

There is an airplane mode on Windows 10/11 system. After enabling airplane mode, the laptop cannot connect to the Internet and the WiFi icon will disappear. So, can you check if airplane mode is enabled on your laptop? If airplane mode is enabled, you only need to turn off airplane mode and the WiFi icon will be displayed normally.

3.WLAN connection is disabled

On the laptop's "Network Connection" configuration page, there is a WLAN or Wi-Fi configuration option. If the WLAN function is disabled on this page, the WiFi icon on the laptop will also disappear and you will not be able to connect to the WiFi network to access the Internet. Here's how to check/enable WLAN functionality:

(1) Press and hold the Win + R key combination on the keyboard at the same time to open the running program. (The Win button is next to the Alt button in the lower left corner of the keyboard, and there is the Microsoft logo on the button).

(2) Enter ncpa.cpl in the run program box and click the "OK" button to enter the network connection configuration page.

4. The wireless network card driver is not installed.

The reason why a laptop can connect to WiFi and access the Internet is because there is a wireless network card on the laptop. For a wireless network card to work properly, driver software must be installed. If the driver is not installed properly, the wireless network card will not work, and the WiFi icon will not appear on the laptop.

You can enter the network connection configuration page of the laptop; if the WLAN or Wi-Fi function options are not displayed, it is usually caused by the wireless network card driver not being installed. In this case, you can use the following method to install the wireless network card driver.

(1) If the laptop has a network cable interface, you can use the network cable to connect the laptop to the router to access the Internet, and then download the universal network card driver; or download the software Driver Life and use Driver Life to install the network card driver.

(2) Some laptops do not have a network port. In this case, you can download the universal network card driver or driver life network card version on your mobile phone, then connect the mobile phone and laptop with a data cable, and transfer the installation file to the laptop for installation.

5.WLAN AutoConfig service is not started

If the WLAN AutoConfig service on the laptop is not started, the WiFi function will not work properly.
