Novice guide - from installing Centos7 (Linux), IC618, SPECTER18, Caliber2019 to CMOS inverter simulation (5) cloning backup and setting up shared folders

1. Virtual machine clone backup

Because problems often occur with virtual machines, it is important to develop a good habit of backing up to avoid the trouble of recreating the virtual machine if it cannot be modified.

As shown in the figure, select Clone to create a backup file. If there is enough space, it is recommended to choose an independent clone file, which can ensure that if an unmodifiable problem occurs in the virtual machine, it can be directly deleted and replaced.

2. Set up shared folders

The purpose of setting up a shared folder is to allow file interaction between the virtual machine and the host. Although VMware Tool can already implement the function of dragging and copying files from the host to the virtual machine, there are still cases where errors occur when copying files. Therefore, setting up shared folders is also a necessary operation.

Remark:

one,

When setting up a shared folder, the shared folder on the host must be in the shared state. The folder in the picture above is in the unshared state. You need to press Share (S) to turn on the sharing state of the folder.

In addition, the folder name should not contain Chinese characters.

two,

Individual users do not have permission to operate folders created by the root user. It is best to change the permissions of the folder as shown in the figure above, otherwise an error may occur during use (when operating as an individual user).

1. Reference article reprint for my operation: (9 messages) CentOS 7 Set up shared folders - share files with win10 host_centos file sharing_Daydreamer_Fat Qiqi's blog-CSDN blog

This article is my main reference article.

You can choose the mounting directory and file name by yourself. Just make sure that when you follow the tutorial, all the corresponding file names and directories are changed to those you set up.

The command vmhgfs-fuse .host:/ /CentOSShareFiles /mnt/hgfs contains many spaces, ":", and ".". Please pay attention to the correctness of the input when using it.

This article is a reference article attached to me.

According to the two articles, it is basically possible to complete the establishment of shared folders and realize communication between the host and the virtual machine using folders.
