1. Overview

I have been using NAS for so long. For the home NAS hard disk solution, there is no need to set up any Raid. One hard disk stores important data, and the other hard disk is for backup. If you have an extra hard disk, you can store a second backup.

2. Hard disk solution

  • Disk 1: 1T solid-state drive (SSD) to install the system and applications and fixed directories
  • The second disk: 4T mechanical hard disk, storing the user's home and public shared files
  • The third disk: 4T mechanical hard disk, which provides space for users to expand, and the rest stores important data backups on the first and second disks.
  • The fourth tray: not used yet, it can be expanded according to the third tray in the future

3. Folder scheme

SSDCreate the following files on the hard drive :

  • Download: The default download directory of Download Station.
  • Multimedia: The default directory for storing multimedia files; multimedia components using this directory include: Photo Station, Music Station, Video Station, and DLNA multimedia server.
  • Public: System user shared directory.
  • Web: Web server directory.

  • homes: collection of home directories of all users
  • home: current user's home directory
    • .QSync: current user's sync folder directory
  • MultimediaExtend: Multimedia extension directory, storing uploaded multimedia, including:
    • Music: music
    • Video: video
    • Picture: picture
    • eBook: e-books, the subdirectories of this directory are the sync folders of the e-library.
  • ShareFile: shared file directory
    • Soft: directory where the software package is stored
