LibreOffice 7.5 will be released next week, and the code has already formed a branch. In the LibreOffice mainline code submitted this week, the official has given up support for some old platforms.
This move stemmed from discussions about removing the dead C++ UNO bridge implementation , so removing some obsolete/obsolete platforms was merged into LibreOffice's Git repository this week.
The first to be removed was support for AIX . As a whole, support for the AIX platform has been considered "dead" for LibreOffice, so 2.4k lines of code have been purged.
Also, support for 32-bit s390 has also "died" and been removed . An additional 1.6K lines of code were removed when support code for the 32-bit s390 architecture was removed.
Also removed are the C++ UNO bridge implementations for Solaris 32-bit SPARC and Solaris x86. These are the only C++ UNO bridge implementations available for Solaris. Removing Solaris SPARC/x86 UNO reduces the total by about 3k lines of code.
However, for those using OpenIndiana, which is derived from OpenSolaris, LibreOffice should still work fine. Because OpenIndiana x86_64 uses the GCC Linux x86_64 bridge implementation.
Officials say this change and any other C++ UNO bridge implementations discussed will be found in the LibreOffice update released in August.
