Windows Server 2022 adds support for WSL2 distributions

Craig Loewen, Windows Developer Platform program manager, in response to a December 2020 issue about "WSL 2 is broken on Windows Server Preview" said that after installing this week's cumulative update preview, Windows Server 2022 is now supported Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL 2) distribution.

Hi everyone, we've added support for the WSL 2 release on Windows Server 2022! It is now available by installing  KB5014021 . Currently this update is only available for seekers and will be pushed by default next month.

Going forward, both Windows server and Windows desktop SKUs will support WSL. Thank you for your feedback, we appreciate your energy and enthusiasm for WSL!

The Windows Server 2022 KB5014021 update is an optional update that you can install through Settings > Windows Update and manually check for updates. Alternatively, you can manually download and install this update from the Microsoft Update Catalog.
