Netdata 1.20.0 release, real-time performance and health monitoring system

Netdata 1.20.0 released. Netdata is a Linux real-time performance monitoring tool. The new version contains 54 bug fixes, 89 and 38 to improve documentation updates.

This is the first major release Netdata released in 2020, with the new Alpha version eBPF collector. eBPF (Extended Berkeley Packet Filter) is a virtual machine bytecode directly built in Linux kernel, it can be used for advanced monitoring and tracking.

In this release, the internal eBPF collector monitors kernel system calls to help understand and visualize the file descriptor, the behavior of the virtual file system (VFS) operations and process / thread interactions. Now you can use it to debug the application, and a better understanding of the Linux kernel how to handle I / O and process management.

eBPF collector is still in preview, not yet enabled immediately, more information can be found in the article: Linux eBPF Monitoring with netdata .

This release also introduces a host label (host labels), which is a powerful new way to organize Netdata monitoring system. Netdata automatically creates tags for some of the basic information, but can also be used to supplement the default values depending on the location of the system, applications, operating system, or even the time line on the system the system breakdown.

You can create apply to systems with a particular label warning label only uses the host, you can also apply the label to use export engine to index archive other databases. Because the label is flowing to the main system from the slave system, so now you can find important information about the entire infrastructure directly from the main system.

In addition, the new version introduces a new CockroachDB collector. CockroachDB team said he also uses in-house, so I hope there is a better way to control the health and performance of the database.

Finally, also added a new  Squid Access Collector log , the collector may parse and visualization request, bandwidth, response and so on. apps.plugin collector also obtained a new and improved method of treatment groups.
