Data Modeling Tutorial classic - the conceptual data model

Definition: include concepts and definitions, and business rules and concepts bound

7.1 dimensions of the relationship between CDM and the CDM introduced

7.1.1 CDM relationship

As the relationship between CDM financial sector, including the ER diagram (business rules) and concepts explained
    • ER diagram (drawing software EdrawMax free version)

Customer account: use of a straight rectangular, it represents strong entity (and other entities need to rely on the presence of an external entity)

Account Balance: Use rounded rectangles represent, showing weak entity (and other entities need to rely on external present, i.e. no account entity entity no account balance)

    • concept
      • client:
      • Accounts:
      • Account Balance:

7.1.2 Dimensions CDM

The dimensions of the financial sector CDM, including ER diagram (dimensions) and to explain the concept
    • ER diagram (drawing software EdrawMax free version)

    •  concept
      • client:
      • Accounts:
      • Account Balance:
      • country:
      • region:

7.2 CDM's creation

Step 1: Ask five strategic issues

  • What application do? (Solve the problem)
  • "As" or "will"? [Existing business model or business model for the future]
  • Statistical analysis is necessary? [Analysis confirm the dimensions and size]
  • Who is the user? [Clear who / organization is the ultimate certifier to confirm the understanding for the CDM, as well as end-user who's CDM]
  • Flexibility or simplicity? [Flexible] means that the model must be more common

Step 2: identify and define concepts

Relational Data Model

Methods: noun or noun phrase in line with six categories (who, what, when, where, why, how) to identify the concept

The concept recognition template:

 The concept identifies Case:

Dimensional data model

Method: dimension related to the extracted according to specific needs (interface list, tag list)

    Dimensions recognition template:

Demand List Business Process Dimensions collection Remark
member baby Stores card area year month Staff manager
Requirement 1 registered
Consumption currency
Requirement 2 Consumption times
...... time consuming
  New pull
  Binding

Step 3: Create relationships

For the relationship between CDM, clear relationships between entities (1 to 1, 1 to many, many to many, pairs 1)

Step 4: clear and effective form

Traditional ER diagram (not recommended, the customer is not easy to understand)

The core business process schematic diagram (recommended customers easy to understand), as shown below

Step 5: Check and confirm

After the data model to do, looking verifier (customer for parties, etc.) to verify the rationality of the model and modify it according to the results of discussions
