Debian will support the system boot from a root file system F2FS

Many users want through the Flash-Friendly File-System (F2FS) as the root file system up and running Debian, is now expected to reach the goal.

Although F2FS already come out, and get more and more uses, especially on Android mobile devices, but by default, most Linux distributions are not allowed to boot from F2FS the default file system. But things now ushered in a turning point, GRUB 2.04 F2FS provides support in its mid-2019 release version.

GRUB updated to support reading F2FS root file system, and this support has been spread to Linux distributions in, of course, also need to enable the relevant module (F2FS module) can be used. For Debian, they will eventually be added this week F2FS module to the signed UEFI image.

From another part of the problem is to add Debian F2FS guide support F2FS initramfs automatically added as the base module.

In this regard, Debian developers are trying to make it fit Romain Perier Debian and guides made from F2FS the root file system can operate normally. For downstream releases like Ubuntu, this is good news, because they will eventually introduce these changes. If other Linux distributions to see F2FS achieve good performance can also begun to follow suit, it may well be good news. Due to F2FS has investment from Google and its partners, relatively speaking, it is also more reliable.
