DHCP works and its processes

How it works: DHCP full name is "Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol", that is, the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol. In the network using DHCP, the user's computer can obtain parameters of access to the Internet from a DHCP server there, almost you do not need to do any manual configuration to access the Internet DHCP clients request IP broadcast information to the DHCP server and DHCP server receives the client after requesting information, respond to client requests information, and then select the first client DHCP server IP assigned to him after receiving the response, then the server determines address lease. DHCP client computer has gone through six transition states in the process of establishing a valid IP address used by the client computer. The six states are: 1) Initialization; 2) Select; 3) request; 4) bundle; 5) update 6) to rebind. (DHCP uses UDP as a transport protocol, the host sends a request message to the DHCP server Port 67, Port 68 respond to the DHCP server a response message to the host) interactions detailed procedure shown in FIG.

The process works the same segment:

1) The client obtains an IP address

2) the discovery phase, where the DHCP client locate a DHCP server

3) to provide phase, the DHCP server offers an IP address

Phase 4) selection phase, i.e., a DHCP client selects the DHCP server to provide IP addresses

5) confirmation phase, the DHCP server acknowledges the IP address provided
