10-20 Introduction

10-20 system electrode placement method is the standard electrode placement method defined by the International Society of EEG. Frontal and occipital pole distance points to the midpoint of the bridge of the nose to the external occipital protuberance from 10% each of total length of this connection, in order to connect the remaining points are separated by 20% of the total length, as shown in FIG. So named for the 10-20 system.
Note [odd brain a left side, a right side of the brain even number. Eight electrodes from each of the left and right sides, plus the amount of mid-point (Fz) on the anteroposterior central site (HCz), the apex (Pz is) and two tab electrode 21 common electrode. As shown below]

10-20 the position of the electrode system as a reference mainly to the skull, or head circumference is not due to personal differences in head shape varies. 10-20 electrode position system described as follows:

Longitudinal sagittal: nasion to the external occipital protuberance take a connection, in this line, from front to five points indicated, are named sequentially as follows: frontal pole midpoint (Fpz), the amount of the midpoint (Fz ), the central point (HCz), the apex (Pz is), pillow point (Oz). Frontal and occipital pole distance points to the midpoint of the bridge of the nose to the external occipital protuberance from 10% each of total length of this connection, in order to connect the remaining points are separated by 20% of the total length.

Transverse: from the point (root of the zygoma tragus depression) before taking the front left point to the right ear by a central connection point, in left and right sides symmetrically this connection indicated in the left temporal (T3), the right temporal (T4), left center (C3), right central (C4). T3, T4 and from the point of the front ear 10% each point of the entire length of this line, the remaining points (including points Cz) were 20% of the entire length of this connection apart.

Lateral: From Fpz back through point T3, T4 point to the left side of the pillow connection points are taken, the right and left sides symmetrical connection indicated to the left from the front frontal pole (Fpl), right frontal electrode (Fp2), left anterior temporal (F7), right anterior temporal (F8), left posterior temporal (T5), the right posterior temporal (T6), left occipital (O1), right occipital (O2) points. Fp1, Fp2 point to the midpoint of the frontal pole (Fpz) and the distance O1, O2 from point to point Oz each accounted for 10% of this total length of the connection, the remaining points (including T3, T4) in this connection are full 20% of the length apart.

The remaining left frontal (F3), right frontal (F4) points are located at the C3 middle Fp1, Fp2, C4 point; top left (P3), the right parietal (P4) points are located at C3, C4 and O1, O2 point intermediate.

System numbers and letters 10-20

Meaning the numbers represent:
left brain number of single, double the number of right brain;
/ intermediate representative Example: C3 / T3 refers to an intermediate point between the two points;
- encompass all points representing two or connected to, for example: Representative C3-T3 covering these two points;

The letters represent the meaning:
F.: Frontal (Frontal lobe in)
Fp: prefrontal (Frontal Poles)
T: temporal lobe (Temporal lobes of)
O: occipital lobe (Occipital lobes of)
P: parietal (parietal lobes of)
C: center portion ( central) or sensorimotor cortex (sensorimotorcortex)
the Z: zero (zero) i.e. left and right brain centers

As shown above, from the bridge of the nose to the occipital protuberance outer longitudinal sagittal line connection is called, the connection between the front left and right ears is called concave crown line. Two lines in the focus position of the head electrode Cz.

From the front to the sagittal were Fpz, Fz, Cz, Pz and Oz, in addition to the outer Fpz nasion, the occipital protuberance Oz distance of 10% of the length of the sagittal line, the pitch of the remaining points sagittal 20% of the length; line along the crown, the left ear from a front recess 10%, followed by T3, C3, Cz, C4, T4, the distance between points were 20% of the crown length. Other positions of the respective points as shown in FIG. Wherein the electrodes by Arabic numerals, the left hemisphere is an odd number, the right hemisphere is even, A1, A2 respectively represent right and left earlobe, the digital line to the outside decreases.
