Disk connectivity and file name
There are two common disk interface: SATA and SAS. It is the mainstream SATA interface.
Transmission Interface
SATA interface: cable narrow, preferably mounted within the enclosure and vent. When a SATA data are encoded as two efficacy purposes. SATA 3.0 theoretically up to 600MB / s, but since the conventional hard limit, the limit speed limit received.
SAS interface: SCSI (Serial Attached SCSI, SAS) interface faster than SATA, SAS hard disk rotational speed and the transmission speed is better than SATA drives, but more expensive. It is still the mainstream SATA PC.
General physical machines are using / dev / sd [ap] disk name. In a virtual machine environment, you may use the / dev / vd [ap].
When a virtual machine using virtio interfaces, disk file name should be / dev / vda
What is virtio?
Virto is an abstract API on top of the hypervisor. It provides a common front end is an analog device hypervisor. Details can see
Disk disc mainly by the robotic arm, the magnetic head and the spindle motor is composed, primarily data writing on the disc.
The disc can be divided into sectors (Sector) and track (Track) .
512 bytes per sector and 4K bytes.
Partition table: MBR (MS-DOS) and GPT partition table (partition table)
Disks usually have multiple discs, all discs of the same track is called " cylinder (Cylinder) ", typically the smallest unit of the file system, the partition is the smallest unit. May also be a sector (Sector) number as a unit partition.
MBR (MS-DOS) partition table formats and limits
512 bytes of the first sector typically contains the following:
-
MBR (Master Boot Record, MBR): can be installed where the boot loader, 446 bytes
-
Partition table (partition table): the entire hard drive partitions recording state, has 64 bytes.
