Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP) is an Internet protocol standard that describes the way the program management of real-time transmission of multimedia data. Initially RTP protocol is described in the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) Request for Comments (RFC) 1869 in, by the RTP audio and video transmission design IETF working group, which supports distributed across multiple geographical participants of the video conference. RTP widely used in Internet telephony applications. RTP itself does not guarantee real-time transmission of multimedia data (since it depends on network characteristics), however, when the data arrives it will do its utmost to provide the necessary method to manage these data.

  And RTP Control Protocol (RTCP) cooperates, RTCP multicast network such that data transmission can be monitored. The receiver can monitor detects any packet loss, you can also compensate for any delay jitter. Both protocols are independent of the underlying transport and network layer protocols. RTP header information will tell the receiver how to rebuild data, and describes how the loss of a bit packed. Typically, the RTP operates in User Datagram Protocol (UDP) on top, but it can also use other transport protocols. Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and H.232 use RTP.
