As shown in the figure, we have integrated Laf into Sealos. You can now create and develop Laf applications in Sealos Desktop. The latest version of Sealos has built-in cloud development capabilities and can be used out of the box (including privately deployed Sealos). It is officially named Sealos 云开发.

What are the characteristics of Sealos cloud development compared to Laf cloud development?
Multi-region selection : There are more available area options on Sealos. Currently, Hangzhou, Beijing, Guangzhou, and Singapore are available to meet the needs of different businesses. Recharge under one Sealos account can be used across multiple regions.
Multi-cloud vendor selection : Sealos provides clusters deployed on different cloud vendors. Currently, Alibaba Cloud, Google Cloud, Tencent Cloud, and Volcano Engine are available. For example, when the domain name that the user needs to bind has been registered with Alibaba Cloud, he can choose the Alibaba Cloud cluster to create an application on Sealos, eliminating the trouble of registration and access. (In the past, because Laf’s domestic clusters ran on Alibaba Cloud, users registered with Tencent Cloud were often unable to bind custom domain names)
Cheaper price : As you can see from the picture above, the price of Sealos is actually much lower than the official price of cloud vendor servers, especially for domestic nodes, with a minimum discount of 30%. Compared with the current pricing of Laf cloud development, it is also discounted by more than 50%! I will make a detailed price comparison later in this article!
Unified account : In the past, users needed to register their own accounts in Laf and Sealos respectively. Now there is no need to register separate cloud development accounts, and there is no need to recharge and consume separately on both sides. Sealos accounts and bills are unified.
More flexible management : In the past, users could not independently manage cloud databases created by Laf, such as backup, logs, observations, import and export operations, but now databases created on Sealos cloud development can be directly managed and monitored through the Sealos database management application.

Q: Why didn’t Laf and Sealos develop integratedly at the beginning?
Laf public cloud will be launched in March 2022, when Sealos public cloud was still in preparation. In order to quickly respond to users' demand for Laf public cloud, Laf launched the public cloud first. Although Laf has always been running on Sealos, Laf public cloud and Sealos public cloud have been running on different independent clusters.
Q: Is Sealos cloud development also open source?
Of course, both Laf and Sealos are completely open source. Similarly, Sealos cloud development as a built-in application of Sealos is also completely open source.
Q: Will my applications on the original Laf cloud development be affected?
No, the original Laf cloud is operating normally and will not affect users' businesses. However, it will gradually converge its functional iteration and enter the maintenance period. It is recommended to give priority to using Sealos cloud development. New functions and new experiences will be iterated in Sealos cloud development first.
Q: Do I need to migrate the original Laf cloud development applications to Sealos cloud development?
Yes but not required. I recommend migrating applications from Laf Cloud to experience more powerful and flexible cloud development . For now, you can export the application through laf-cli and then import it into Sealos cloud development . I will also write a migration document later for your migration reference.
