OpenAI applies for GPT-6 and GPT-7 trademarks in China

According to the latest trademark information, OpenAI has submitted trademark registration information for GPT-6 and GPT-7 in China, classified into two categories: scientific instruments and website services. The application date is November 2 this year and is currently under review.

The application was completed by an intellectual property agency, but the applicant’s address is exactly that of OpenAI’s US company.

In August this year, OpenAI applied for the GPT-5 trademark in the United States, and later it was revealed that it was seeking new financing from Microsoft to develop GPT-5. The specific launch time of GPT-5 was not announced.

OpenAI applied for two trademarks in China at the same time, which may have two purposes:1) To prevent large model trademarks from being maliciously registered by individual companies, just like the "sporting goods" "Jordan" also played a side kick, and there was a situation where Li Gui beat Li Kui;

2) It may enter the Chinese market in the future. Faced with such a large application market and AI development atmosphere, it will be possible to enter the mainland with the help of Microsoft.

In 2019, OpenAI released the 1.5 billion parameter GPT-2 model. In addition to optimizing functions, it achieved new breakthroughs in the naturalness and coherence of generated text.

In 2020, OpenAI released the GPT-3 model with 175 billion parameters, achieving a qualitative leap in capabilities in natural language generation, dialogue understanding, automated programming, etc., and Microsoft commercialized it for the first time and integrated it into the low-code product matrix middle.
