Highlights of VLC version 3.0.19 include improved software decoding support for AV1 HDR, support for RIFF INFO tags for WAV audio files, improved support for AVI files with flipped RAW video planes, improved SSA rendering by crunchyroll, and super-resolution scaling for NVIDIA and Intel GPUs.

Additionally, it improves mux timestamps in multiple formats, improves handling of FFmpeg muxed MP4 chapters, improves playback of QNap-produced AVI files and some older RealVideo files, and implements MPRIS TrackList signal.

This release also fixes YouTube playback, GoPro MAX spatial metadata, HLS/TS streams with ID3 prefix, HLS playlist refresh drift, next frame freeze, FLAC playback quality degradation due to variable frame size, AAC handling, in NV12 issues with rawvid video, GOOM visualization, and D3D11 and OpenGL hardware decoding.
Fixed issues also include: fixing the duration problem of short Ogg/Opus files; fixing the duration detection problem of MP4 with some missing information; fixing the problem when playing -90° rotated video; fixing the poor editing problem on Android Mediacodec Black screen issue with MP4 files.

It also provides better support for certain AV1 GBRP streams, AV1 super-resolution streams, and AV1 monochrome streams, improves the ability to open files in read-only mode, and fixes a memory leak when using the media_list_player libVLC API.

For  Linux  users, VLC 3.0.19 fixes some MPRIS inconsistencies that would break operating system components, fixes a password search issue when using the Kwallet backend, and fixes some rendering issues with the full-screen controller.

Under the hood, VLC 3.0.19 includes updated components, including FFmpeg, libvpx (addressing CVE-2023-5217), ebml, dav1d, libass, and zlib 1.2.13 (addressing CVE-2022-37434).

Last but not least, this version adds new translations for Burmese, Esperanto, Intlinge, Lao, Macedonian, Odia, Samoan and Swahili. You can download VLC 3.0.19 right now from here, but it must be compiled from source.
